Chapter 25

Clarisse was having lunch in the cafetaria when her subordinates who were worried about her came and sat beside her. She smiled widely, but everyone could see that her smile was indeed fake. They talked during their lunch hoping to cheer her up. However, Clarisse seemed like hearing nothing. Not until she heard about the vacant position in B city.

"So would you apply ?"

"Of course, I may get a chance to be a director after all"

"What are you guys talking about?", Clarisse cut their conversation.

"Haven't you heard? A subsidiary in B city has vacant in top management position."

Clarisse only nodded nonchalantly, but who knew that she directly applied herself to the subsidiary. She was trying to avoid any troubles, avoid him, especially.

As long as we don't meet, I don't see him, as time passes, this strange feeling will vanish as well.

Clarisse had always avoided romance. Anytime someone confessed, she would consider, doubt, then deciden, decide to turn them down. Insecure, that was the only word that could describe why she did so. Trauma, she denied it. She only knew that she was afraid to be hurt, she had had enough for being abandoned. She was fine, swarming the world freely.

In this world, there was three classes of society, top, middle and lower. Kevin was definitely in the top of the top when she was from the lower who was struggling for a better life. She didn't want her love was seen as a stepping stone. She was more than enough to be humiliated. She only wanted to live well and left a good name.

He is only interested in me since I am different from others. Though, his interest may turn to love. He will never marry me.

Clarisse was awake for the whole night that she didn't wake up until her phone rang. She stretched her arm to reach it and put it in her ear.

"Hmm"

"Get up now! Have you forgotten that today was my shop's grand opening?"

Clarisse then realized that it was Saturday and indeed it was the day of Sherly's shop's grand opening.

"I'll be there soon"

She rushed to the bathroom as soon as she hung up. She took a transparent light blue dress and put one her flat shoes. She tied her hair into messy bun and put on lighy make-up.

Sherly glared at her when she finally arrived in 45 minutes after they ended up the call. Fortunately, the shop was in the shopping mall which was in her district and it was only 15 minutues away from the Riverside Apartment.

She walked to Sherly's side and smiled innocently.

" I'm here after all "

"Thanks to my calling"

Her sarcasm was real.

When she was still in the hell due to coming late, the cold man arrived right in front of her.

"Oh, the big boss has arrived", Alvin walked pass through both of the girls to greet the man.

"En"

The man answered shortly, but his eyes glued to her. Clarisse was so uncomfortable with his stare, but she couldn't do anything. The onlookers, Alvin and Sherly, could feel that the temperature dropped to the lowest. They felt like they were in the Artic.
