Chapter 26

Having attended the grand opening, Clarisse went back home to go to another event. She was putting on some light make-up when she received a text-message.

[ I'm heading there]

She halted to reply an "ok" before continueing her current activity. She then changed into a grey T-shirt dress. Her curly black hair was laid down. She took her clucth, put on her black heels and headed to the lobby.

A black sedan car stopped right in front of her. She immediately got on the car to meet the confused eyes of the owner.

"What?"

"They will feel disappointed"

Clarisse glared at the man. She remembered the embarassing moment in the previous event.She who had always maintained a classy and simple outfit was overdressed in his company's party. Actually, she only put on eye-liner and red liptint with her floral dress, but of course she would stand out very much in a party where everyone wore grey or black.

Having experienced the low-profile company's party, she decided to wear something that would fit the company's image as well.

Michael who saw her grief expression couldn't help but chuckled. He patted her head softly and drove to the venue.

During the drive, Michael occasionally looked at her. Looking her haggard face, he said "Take a nap, I'll wake you up later."

" It's okay, I just feel a little tired"

"Ah, didn't you say that there is another new investor?"

"Yes, thanks to this investor that our new game will be launched in America as well."

"Really?"

"En, he is really a talented one. He is only 31, but he is a respected figure in America's business world."

Listening to Michael's explanation about this new investor who succeded in his young age, she couldn't help but thought of a certain someone who also succeeded in a very young age.

"He will come as well, I'll introduce him to you", Michael smiled as he said so.

They chatted along the drive and soon they arrived in the venue. Both of them got off and walked to the hall where the party was held.

When they stepped into the hall, Clarisse sighed inward. Thankfully that I didn't overdress this time. The whole room was filled with black or grey figures. People said that IT people didn't care about apperance, Clarisse could testify this as well. After all, the owner of the company who was standing beside her, also wore a grey T-shirt and black trousers. Who would belive that he was the owner of a company?

The managers of each department walked toward them and greeted them friendly. Though, Michael was the owner but he had always had good relation with his subordinates, especially these managers who had been working together since their day one.

"It's an honor for these gentlemen to have the chance to see this beautiful ms", said Derrick.

"Cut that crap, Derrick", Clarisse scolded.

Clarisse was familiar with them as she would occasionally drop to the company and bought some food for them.

When the employees presumed her as the madam of the CM company. So they had always been respectful toward her. After all, they had never seen any woman came to their company to meet their boss. She would also be the first to try their new games and she would also attend the important events of their company. However, of course, Clarisse never knew about these.

She knew that Michael didn't think her as only his friend. However, Clarisse had always pretended not to act fool since he hadn't confessed and it would be the best for their friendship after all.

Their conversation then was stopped when Michael's assistant came and whispered something to him. He nodded and said "Okay"

"The investor has come, let's go"

"En"

They walked to the entrance and saw a man in his casual white T-shirt walked to their side.

"Hello, Mr. Kevin. Thank you for attending our company's party"

"It's my pleasure"

The whole situation froze Clarisse and she couldn't move at all, especially when those eyes looked at her the whole time.

"Clarisse, this is the new investor that I told you"

"Mr. Kevin, this is Clarisse"

Michael intoduced them, not knowing that they had known each other.

Clarisse was brought back to the reality with Michael's introduction.

"Nice to meet you", she said vaguely.

Kevin who saw her acted like they didn't know each other felt a strange feeling in his heart. He didn't know what it was as he never felt it before, but he knew well that it seemed sour.
