In Time

Chapter 46

"Hello, okay.. I'm coming.", Clarisse answered the call and immediately took the documents that needed to be reported.

She was still working as the Finance Director in A Corporation. That was due to Kevin's persistence. Flashbacked to the last day in Singapore when Clarisse asked about her resignation.

"Erm.. Could you please approve my resignation?"

"No", Kevin answered firmly showing no negotiation could be done.

Clarisse also didn't dare to say anything else about the resignation as she felt the atmosphere had dropped to the lowest level. Scared. She absolutely felt so. Kevin also realized that he had been too stern so he took her into his embrace and kissed her forehead.

"I agreed to be the president because of you, then do you think I will let you resign?"

"Huh? Because of me?", she broke off from his embrace and looked into his eyes looking for truth.

Kevin pinched her nose lightly, "Then, for whom do you think I come back?"

"..."

"I have several companies in my hand that needed to manage, so could you please help me?"

"My pleasure"

Their conversation that day made her walk to the president's room then.

When she entered the room, there had been several directors inside. All of them were waiting for her to start the meeting. In the company, both of them would maintain a very professional relationship between boss and subordinate so no one knew about their relationship.

After work, Clarisse rushed to clock out because they would always have dinner together since they came back from Singapore two weeks ago. On the day,they had agreed to eat sushi in Clarisse's favourite restaurant. However, when the clock had striked 6 o'clock, Kevin hadn't arrived yet. Clarisse was a little anxious because Kevin had always been on time.

Should I call him? But what if he is in meeting? Oh my gosh ..  what's wrong with him? Okay.. I should call him..

Clarisse finally settled to call him after her long inner battling. She took her phone and pressed his number. However, she quickly ended it.

What if he feels annoyed ? After all it is just 5 minutes late.

Thanked God that her phone rang and it was Kevin.

"Hello."

"I"m sorry, I can't accompany you today."

"..."

Her silence indeed showed that she was annoyed and Kevin knew that so he immediately explained.

"I'm heading airport."

Clarisse was a little shocked. "Why?"

"Karin was in an accident."

Karin was Kevin's younger sister who was studying in New York. She was the pearl in Lou Family's palm. Her unfortunate situation had caused Kevin and their parents, as well as the old couple to rush to New York.

"Notify me her condition as soon as possible."

"I got it."

"Take care of yourself as well, your family needs you."

"En.."

Kevin's heart was unsettled, his lovely sister was in comma and he still didn't know her exact condition. However, listening to Clarisse's voice calmed him down. No one ended the phone call and they stayed silent for a moment.

Clarisse didn't know how to console someone else as she always solved her own problems herself. No one would console her or calmed her down so she stayed silent hoping that her presence would ease him a little bit.

"She will be fine.", Clarisse said after a while.

"If you say she will be fine, then she will absolutely be."
