In Time

Chapter 4

At the Platinum Hotel, the ballroom was well-lighted by the hanging chandeliers. In the middle of stage, there was a podium and there was a big screen with "25th Anniversary" words written in it. Everyone who was invited was the elite, even the staffs who worked in Alpha Corporation were not usual workers, thus the view of the walking branded shops could be seen as soon as Clarisse entered.

Wearing a silver long dress with noodle straps on her shoulders with her black curly hair tied up, she walked to the ballroom looking for Kaylee. She didn't put on her soft lenses as her eyes were itchy after wearing them the whole day while wearing glasses with her outfit was not really suitable thus she was in difficulty to find Kaylee. Fortunately, Kaylee who saw her from afar walked to her.

"You are here"

"Will you let me off if I don't?"

Kaylee chuckled to her sarcasm, but she didn't mind it because she had long treated her as her little sister.

"Don't stand here, let me introduce you to some high-quality men.", finishing her words, she immedeately pull her to the centre of the room.

As she promised, Kaylee really introduced her to a bunch of men and they were really high-quality ones, handsome and rich, the typical of girls' ideal type. Uncomfortable, that was how Clarisse felt. She really would like to go back to her room or at the very least to sit in the corner od the room. However, she couldn't help to disappoint Kaylee and at last she could only be friendly with the men.

After some time, the master of ceremony stood in the middle of the stage welcoming everyone. Not long after, an old man in his seventies walked to the stage and gave his speech. He had a calm demeanour and his words were soothing. He was the chairman of the Alpha Corporation. Taking the opportunity when everyone was focused to the old man, she excused herself and went to the restroom. When she came back, the old man had just finished his speech and everyone applaused.

Clarisse walked to the corner and found herself a seat. Absorbed by her own thought, she was startled by Sharon.

"Hey! Why are you here ? And alone?"

"My legs hurt after standing so long"

"Ah really? Or are you running away from the fish?"

"Hmm.. the fish is the one who runs away from me"

Listening to Clarisse's reply, Sharon laughed out loud even her eyes were teary after the laugh.

"No wonder, none of the fish are trying to swim toward me"

Sharon was right. If things were like what Clarisse said, then none of the men would look at her. Clarisse was in her prime age and she was not only beautiful but also smart. In her age, she could be a manager. This kind of achievement was not easy.

"Each one has his or her own preference. There will be someone who fall head over heels toward you", Clarisse said sincerely.

Sharon knew that Clarisse's intention, her words before were actually to remind her that not all men were bad like her ex. The pain that she experienced hadn't vanished even a bit.

Right a night before her wedding, she caught her husband-to-be was making love with his childhood sweetheart. They were once in relationship, but because of the girl's ignorance led her marrying another man who abandoned her soon after she bore their son. She then came back and looked for him. The old flame was triggered, he said that he was sorry and couldn't control himself. He also confessed that he actually neer loved her and knelt down begging her to cancel their wedding. Since then, she decided not to be in a relationship with any men.

"Hey! Do you know that the first young master is coming tonight?", asked Sharon trying to divert their conversation.

Clarisse shook her head lightly, "What first master?"

"Don't tell me that you don't know about the first grandson of the chairman?"

"..."

"Are you working at Alpha Corporation? How come you don't know about him? Even the new staffs would know about her."

"..."

Speaking of the devil, the man that they were talking about entered the room. Upon his arrival, all of the guests froze at the sight of him walking toward the CEO.

"Hey hey hey! It's him!", though Sharon decided not to fall in love, she still could droll over hot guys.

Clarisse who saw the excited Sharon looked at where she pointed. He was wearing black suit highlighting his height which made him more alluring. Such a pity, she didn't wear her softlenses and didn't bring her glasses along so she couldn't see his face clearly.

" I can't see his face", Clarisse sighed

" What a pity, you probably won't have chance to see him again."

" Why? If he is the chairman's grandson, then we will see him sooner or later."

" If just as what you have said, then the chairman won't be so agitated"

"..."

"He built his own company in the States right after he graduated from his bachelor degree. The chairman has long wanted to inherit the Alpha Corporation to him, but he always declines."

"Deserved to be praised"

"En.. but they say he inherits the chairman's stubborness which also gives the chairman headache. He has never showed up in any events. I wonder what makes him attend tonight."

Listening to Sharon, she couldn't help but amazed, thus her eyes uncnciously looked to his direction. Her eyes were sparkling like the stars, anyone who looked at them would be stunned.
