Annie's POV
I wake up and realize it's Valentine's Day. Ugh. I decide to put on a black and white striped crop top tank top tucked into a black skirt with flowers on it. I put on black flats. I decide to just leave my hair down and curl it. I head downstairs and see mom making heart shaped pancakes. "Good morning!" I say as cheerfully as I can. "Good morning! Are you ready for some heart shaped pancakes?" Mom asks. "Yes I am!" I say again as cheerfully as possible. "Ok well help yourself. I'm late for work. Love you!" She says. "Love you too!" I say. Ugh. I grab myself some pancakes and syrup and some orange juice.
About twenty minutes later the doorbell rings. I go and open it. "Are you Annie LeBlanc?" The person says. "Yes?" I say. The man is probably 5'3", he's got an athletic build to him, and he looks to be a mailman. Odd. "You have mail from Paris, France. I'm gonna need you to sign this since it is international mail." The man says. I sign and he hands me a box. Weird. I close the door and go back to the counter. I check the time and notice that I need to get to school. Oh well. I guess the mysterious box will have to wait. I put the box in my room, grab my backpack, and head to school.
I get there and head to my locker. I see Harriet, Austin, Paisley, Cameron, Iris, Jax, Kayla, Jake, Serbrina, Drake, Autumn, Ocean, Lily Rose, and Hayden standing by it. I quickly put a smile on my face and walk over there. "Hey!" I say and open my locker. "Happy Valentine's Day!" Autumn says. She still thinks I love Valentine's Day. "The seventh grade teachers decided the seventh grade isn't having classes tomorrow and instead we're having a Valentine's Day party!" Paisley says. "Really? Cool!" I say. Ugh. I hate faking. I finish grabbing my stuff out of my locker and so Hayden, Austin, and Jake walk me, Harriet, and Kayla to homeroom with Autumn and Lily Rose following.
While Harriet, Kayla, Autumn, Lily Rose, Austin, Jake and I are in first block we here the intercom come on. "Will all chorus and general music performers please come to the chorus room." The intercom says. Harriet and I get up and walk to the chorus room along with some other kids in the class.
We get to the chorus room and I see Hayden already in there with his guitar tuning it. I warm up my voice by singing a scale and doing a couple other things. "You ready?" Hayden says as I walk up to him. "Yeah." I say. Hayden pulls out a box and hands it to me. "Happy Valentine's Day." He says. I open it and see a gold chain with an H on it. He takes it out of the box and puts the necklace around my neck. I lift my hair so he can put it around my neck. "Thank you! I love it!" I say and hug him. "Ok kids get ready. Annie, Hayden. You guys are up first." Mr. Donner says. We nod and head towards the stage.
About ten minutes later the curtains open. "So first up is Annie and Hayden!" Mrs. Belleza said. Hayden and I walk on stage and I take the microphone from her. There's also a microphone on a stand so Hayden can sing while he plays. "Hey guys. This song is called I Won't Give Up." I say and Hayden starts playing.
Here are the lyrics to the song:
[Annie, Hayden, Both]
When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
Well, there's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?
Well, I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find
'Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up
I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily (I won't give up on us)
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make (Even if the skies get rough)
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use (I'm giving you all my love)
The tools and gifts we got, yeah, we got a lot at stake (I'm still looking up)
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not, and who I am
