Chapter 21

Annie's POV

It's Christmas Eve! I wake up and get dressed into black leggings, a white sweatshirt that says 'Ho! Ho! Ho!' in red letters and some Christmas socks. I walk downstairs to see my parents setting up decorations for the Christmas party tonight. "Mommy. Did you get the mistletoe rules printed?" I ask her. "Um no. I've been really busy. Do you think you could do it?" She asks and goes back to the decorations. "Sure!" I head to my room and pull up my computer. The mistletoe rules are basically rules for when you are under mistletoe. These include: if you are 12 and under you are not allowed to kiss under any mistletoe other than the one by the kitchen which is where my dad monitors it, you don't have to kiss the person you are under the mistletoe with, it can be a hug, a kiss on the cheek, a handshake, anything. And that's pretty much all the rules are.
About an hour later we have everything decorated and there is still two hours left till the party. We start the food and then just relax. It takes almost two hours to cool everything so we've got some time on our hands.
An hour and a half later we finish decorating cookies and whatnot and I decide to go to my room and take a shower. Once I shower I change into a red short sleeve dress that comes down to the knee. I leave my hair down and curl it. I head downstairs and see all of my family changes into their Christmas party clothes and sitting on the couch.
About thirty minutes later there's a knock on the door. I go and open it and see Harriet and her family standing at it. "Hi! Come on in!" I say and they walk in. We start talking and the parents head to the kitchen. It goes the same way for Austin, Iris, Jax, Paisley, Cameron, Kayla, Jake, Serbrina, Drake, Hayley's friends, my parents friends and their family's. Hayden never shows up with his mom and his sisters which worries me since he said he was coming. I text him and ask him where he is and he leaves me on read. Great. Now he's not talking to me what did I do?
About forty minutes after everyone shows up there's a knock on the door. I go to the door hoping it's Hayden and his family because that's the only people missing. I go and open the door and it's him. I let them in and for some reason get the urge to hug him. What the heck. I know I like him but it'd be weird if I just hugged him out of nowhere. "Hey," Hayden says and starts to take off his shoes and puts them with everyone else's. "Hey," I say and help him take of the little ones shoes. I take off Rosie's shoes, Hayden takes off Paris' shoes, and Ocean takes off her own shoes. Ocean runs off to find their mom with Rosie not long behind her while Paris stays behind and hugs Hayden's leg. "Paris. Why don't you go with Rosie and Ocean I think they went to find mom," Hayden says and picks Paris up. "Okay" Paris says and Hayden lets her down and she runs off to find Ocean and Rosie. Hayden and I go over to our friends. "Hey guys how's Hannie!!" Paisley says and Iris and Harriet give her a look. "Huh?" I say very confused. "Nothing. Hey Hayden." Harriet says. "Uh hey?" Hayden says.
About 10 minutes later we say grace and then everyone starts eating. Everyone compliments the French food and my parents say thank you and explain some of the dishes. I finish my food and excuse myself to the restroom quickly.

Hayden's POV

As Annie left for the bathroom our friends started to bombard me with questions and statements based on my feelings for her. "When are you gonna tell her?" Paisley says quickly. "You should do it on Valentine's Day!" Iris says. "Yeah!!" All the girls say. "Um, wow ok. How did conservation change that fast? And why are you asking me these questions. I don't even know if she likes me back." I say and continue eating. "Umm." Paisley says and whispers something to Cameron. "She likes you." He says. I look at him with the are you sure look and he looks at Paisley with the same look. "Yes. I'm sure. Here. Look at our group chat." Paisley says and hands me her phone.

Annie: 💜
Paisley😝: Ok
Iris🎻: Annie. I have a question for you.
Annie💜: Ok.
Iris🎻: How much do you like Hayden?
Annie💜: Idk.
Iris🎻: Are you sure?
Annie💜: Yes. Why do you ask?
Iris🎻: Because that one day you bumped into him you blushed. And when we asked you you blushed even harder.
Annie💜: That's cause I was embarrassed. I wasn't watching where I was going.
Serbrina🐒: Ok lovebird
Annie💜: Seriously.
Kayla🏊🏻‍♀️: I'm going to watch Jack play basketball with his friends goodbye.
Harriet🦄: Bye!
Annie💜: Bye!
