"I think that's enough for tonight." Arohi said to the other 4 teachers standing next to her as they all stared at their handiwork.  Glancing at her watch she winced, she had said she'd be home an hour ago but time had some how run away from her.  "The set  is coming along great." Samir said softly from beside her.  Arohi smiled.  "Thanks so much everyone for staying late."  "With our strict deadline I'm afraid we probably will have a few more late nights but believe me the students are going to love us for this." she said smiling at everyone around her.  As everyone made their exits Samir volunteered to walk her to her car.  "No Samir, that's okay my car is in the opposite direction of yours." she replied.  "So, it's not like I have any place to go and this way we can spend a little more time together."  he replied.  Arohi looked up at him sharply.  "I mean to discuss the preparations for the Christmas concert." he quickly added.  Arohi paused and then smiled.  "You're a good friend Samir for volunteering so much time to help me on this." she said, squeezing his arm.  Samir bit back a sigh.  If only Arohi would see him as more then a friend.  He knew she was married,  but he knew she wasn't happy in that marriage. Past few days he'd been watching her and any time he mentioned her husband or anything related to marriage he would see her eyes turn sad.  That Arjun Singhania was an idiot!  If he had been lucky enough to be married to Arohi he would treat her like the princess she was and do anything in his power to make sure she was always happy.  "What more could be expected from that ruthless cold business man," Samir muttered to himself.  "Hmm?" Arohi said from beside him.  "Nothing." Samir replied, asking her what the next step for their project was going to be.  Arohi half listened to Samir as she glanced around her.  A shiver ran down her spine as an odd feeling of being watched settled over her.  Trying to shake it off, she glanced behind her.  No one.  You're just being paranoid she told herself.  "Hey, everything okay?" Samir asked as they reached her car.  "Oh yeah, everything is fine."  "Okay have a good weekend and I'll see you Monday." Arohi said with a smile.   Samir nodded.  Two whole days without Arohi.  "Hey, do you want to catch a movie tomorrow night?" he asked suddenly.  "Um, I'll let you know."  "I haven't spent any time with mom and dad this week so I might just hang out at home." Arohi replied.  Samir tried not to show his disappointment.  "Okay, see you later." he said, watching Arohi getting into her car.   If only she was coming home with him rather then going home to that Arjun Singhania.

Arjun looked up as Arohi walked into the family room, seeing him she stopped,  turned right back around, about to leave the room, when suddenly she changed her mind.  Arjun watched as she turned back around.  Her face carefully emotionless.  Walking to a shelf she quietly went through the DVD's stacked on it.  Arjun took a swig of his beer and a slow smile lifted to his lips.  And she said he was stubborn.  Arohi refused to let Arjun get to her.  She wasn't going to withdraw from the room letting him think he had an effect on her.  It had been  5 days since they'd last spoken, working late at the school every night had really helped with that.  But even though she was exhausted, as she closed her eyes every night willing herself to sleep, the events of that horrid night would come back to haunt or and take with it any hopes of sleep.  Tears that she'd held off all day would roll down her face.  She hated herself for missing him.  She missed talking to him, she missed his embrace, his kisses.  She missed loving him, no that wasn't possible, because she was still so in love with him she just couldn't let herself feel that love anymore.  It couldn't consume her and make her happy like it used to.  She still had moments when her feelings for him were so intense, sometimes just brought on by something as simple as him walking into a room.   She loved him with every fibre of her being and what she really missed was the happily ever after she had started planning in her head.  Arjun and her so in love, happily married.  She'd spent so much time in la la land lately, but Arjun's rejection had taken care of that fantasy.  Destroyed it with just a few cruel words.

Arohi reached up on her toes to grab a DVD from the top shelf and felt a shiver run through her as Arjun's body came up against hers and he reached his hand easily above hers and grabbed  the DVD.  "Here you go." he said huskily against her ear.  For a moment Arohi felt weak in the knees.  She hated his effect on her.  Quickly getting control of herself she moved away from him.  "I don't need your help." she snapped.  Arjun sighed.  "Just take it Arohi." he said, holding it out to her.  Arohi glared first at the DVD in his hand and then at him.  "No thank you"  "I don't want it anymore." she said primly, moving back to the shelf he had just vacated.  "Are you serious?"  "Just because I got the DVD down for you, you don't want it now?" he asked in a bewildered tone.  Arohi ignored him and reached for another DVD.  Arjun didn't know why it irritated him so much, or why he did what he did next.  Reaching behind her he grabbed the DVD she was reaching for.  Arohi gasped and spun around colliding with his chest.  Instantly moving back she said "Give it back!"   "Oh you want it now?"  "Even though I took it down for you?" he asked mockingly.  "Stop being so childish and give it back!" she demanded.  "I'm childish?"  "Now that's the pot calling the kettle black!" he scoffed.  Arohi glared at him.  "Just hand over my dvd Arjun, I don't want to speak to you or be in your presence longer then necessary." she replied, gritting her teeth.  "Fine, you want it?"  "Here." he said, holding out the DVD.  Arohi reached for it and Arjun snapped it back right before she could grab it.  "Are you 5?!" she asked with her hands on her hips.  "Here" he said, holding it away from her.  Arohi moved forward trying to grab it out of his hand but he kept it just out of her reach.  "I hate you!" she snapped, and then gasped as her foot slipped on the hardwood floor.  Arjun caught her against him just before she fell.  His one hand snaked tightly around her waist.  Big brown eyes looked up at him and he was lost.  His lips were on hers before either one of them could say something to ruin the moment.  The DVD slid to the ground as his other hand came around to settle on her hip pulling her closer against him.  Arohi hesitated for a millisecond before she let herself melt against him.  Her hands moving behind his neck.  The kiss was hot and delicious.  Arohi moaned against Arjun's mouth as he deepened the kiss.  His kisses becoming more hungry more intense.  Arjun's hands were everywhere as Arohi pulled him closer arching her neck as he nibbled on her throat.  A gasp escaping her lips as he bit down softly on her neck.  She didn't even realize when he'd maneuvered them to the sofa or when he'd pulled her down into his lap.  His hand behind her neck holding it in his place as his mouth made love to hers.   It was the feel of his other hand on her bare back that jerked her back to her senses.   She hadn't even noticed when he'd undone her blouse.  Her breathing ragged she stared into his hooded gaze which was filled with desire...for her.   She was so weak where he was concerned.   Climbing out of his lap with as much dignity as she could muster she moved away, turning her back she did up her buttons with shaky fingers.  "Arohi." she heard him say softly.  Straightening her shoulders she turned around.  You will not cry she told herself sternly as she looked him in the face.  "This was a momentary lapse in judgment that will not occur again." she said in her best teacher voice.  Arjun stared at her.  "Knowing our track record this not occurring again is quite unlikely." he replied gruffly.  Arohi's eyes blazed as she stared at him.  "Then work harder at making sure it doesn't occur again!" she snapped.  "Because I have no intentions of becoming another notch on your bedpost!" she snapped.  Arjun's eyes flashed angrily and taking an angry step forward he stopped.  "In my experience the ones that resist the most are the ones that want to be chased!" he snapped.  Arohi's indignant gasp filled the room.  "I have no desire to be chased by someone like you!" she said furiously.  "And I have no desire to chase you Arohi!" he snapped back.  "I don't chase women." he added.   "Good cause I have no plans to be caught by a cold hearted egotistical jerk like you!" she replied.  She was flush against him in seconds, his hand wrapped around her in a vise like grip.  "I don't get you Arohi, one day you love me and the next I'm a cold hearted egotistical jerk."  "One day you're ignoring me and wishing me dead and the next you're kissing me like your life depended on it."  "Why don't you make up your mind and stick with it?'  "Either I'm a jerk, which I'll tell you I am, and it would be smart for you to stay away from me, OR let's just get this sexual tension out of the way and finish what we keep starting!"  Arohi's face turned red with anger as she struggled against him.  "You're so disgusting I can't believe I ever developed feelings for something like you!" she spat out.  "Oh it's developed feelings now is it?" he asked sarcastically, I think your bloody declaration of love was a little bit more then developing some little feelings for me!" he spat back.  "I hate you Arjun!"  "I will always hate you!"  "You took something good and pure and made it ugly and I will never forgive you for it."  "And yes let's go up to YOUR bedroom right now and you can finish off what you started."  "I'll personally carve in the notch for you."  "It'll not only be a memory for you but one for me too, a memory reminding me how ruthless and painful love can be." "A reminder not to ever head down that road again!" she snapped, tears rolling down her face.  Arjun stared at her, a hand lifting to wipe away her tears.  "DON"T YOU DARE TOUCH ME!" she yelled.  "I want to remember you as what you really are, exactly what you are in this moment."  A ruthless, selfish despicable man don't mar it by showing me any fake tenderness." she choked out.  Arjun's hand clenched into a fist at her words and he let her go with a jerk.  "Have it your way then!" he snapped.  Watching her turn on her heal and rush out of the family room Arjun swore.  What had he done that was so bloody wrong that she'd attacked him like that?  Kissing her?  Sure he'd initiated it but she had been a very willing participant.  And after that things had quickly spiraled out of control.  He didn't want to want her...life would be so much easier if he could just resist her but after today's little make out session he knew that was out of the question but so was actually making love to her. Things were so messed up!  She's in love with you, you idiot screamed the voice in his head.  If you think things are complicated now why not sleep with her and see how crazy they'd become then. the voice continued.  Arjun quickly pushed it away. "There's no chance of that happening!" he muttered.  No chance.  She'd made it clear and she was right.  He was a jerk and a he didn't deserve her love.  Which was fine because he didn't need anyone's love.

"Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!" Arohi muttered to herself, quickly brushing away tears as she raced down the corridor leading into the main hall.  She wanted to get upstairs as quickly as possible before someone saw her bawling like a baby.  Why was she so stupid to have fallen in love with that idiotic man?  He was never going to love her back, she knew that, then why did she keep putting herself into situations where he could throw the fact in her face time and time again.  She was so stupid!  And he was such a big oaf!  "Arohi beta?" her mother in law said reaching a hand out to stop Arohi.  Arohi had been so wrapped up in berating herself and Arjun that she hadn't noticed Arjun's mom.  Quickly wiping away her tears Arohi gave her a wobbly smile.  "What's wrong beta?" Arjun's mom asked.  Arohi shook her head suddenly overcome with emotion.  "I'm, I'm..." she began trying to say she's fine but not being able to complete her sentence.  "Oh, my child." Arjun's mom said worriedly as she pulled her into a tight embrace.  Arohi couldn't hold back the sobs anymore.  Clutching her she cried against her shoulder.  "It's going to be okay.' Arjun's mom said soothingly as she caressed her hair and let Arohi cry.  Finally leading her into the dining room she had her take a chair and as Arohi's tears became soft hiccups she handed her a tissue and a glass of water.  "Drink this and tell me what happened." Arjun's mom said, and Arohi did as she asked skipping the parts where Arjun and her had been intimate.  "He doesn't love me, I could have been okay with that, even when I had told him that I loved him I wasn't expecting to hear it back yet."  "But his reaction to my feelings, how he cheapened and dismissed them... I can't get past that."  she said sniffling.  "I love him and he's told me that he can and will never return those feelings, how can we have a marriage if there is no hope for love?" Arohi asked helplessly.  "We're both just wasting our time and if we were to stay together soon this fighting would consume us and we would become like you and da..." Arohi said and then stopped, her eyes widening.  "I'm sorry I didn't mean..." she began.  "No, you're right."  "If you continue to fight and bicker you two would have a marriage like mine and your father's." her mother in law replied.  "Arohi, I know you've been hurt by both my sons and I'm so sorry that you are having to go through this."  "I wish I could snap my fingers and this cloud of despair would disappear from over my children so that they could be happy."  "I know Arjun is wrong and I'm not making excuses for him but beta somewhere in this your father and I are to blame."  "His perception of love is very cynical because of the marriage we as his parents have had."  "He's seen it and lived it all his life and he hated every moment of it, but we were so wrapped up in our own hatred for each other that sometimes, no a lot of the time, we didn't care how it effected any one else...not even our children."  "Shows what great parents we were doesn't it." she said her voice tinged with self loathing.  "It wasn't until the boys got older that the true impact of what we had done hit us and by that time it was too late."  "Vicky grew up differently because he had Arjun to protect him from us...but Arjun didn't have anyone so he grew up with a bitterness that no young man his age should have."  His hard and cold attitude surrounded him like a protective layer against any hurt until he made it that he couldn't feel anything anymore."   "I always thought when he met the right girl that coldness surrounding his heart would start to melt away, and Arohi I think you are that right girl."  "Since you've come into his life I have seen such a change in him."  "When you're in the room his eyes rarely leave you and I've seen his protectiveness towards you.  I know he says things in anger sometimes  but I know you're strong enough to take that and give it right back."  "He's a good man Arohi, he's got a good heart, he really does...he just doesn't want to show it to anyone because he considers it a weakness."  "His dad and I are a big reason for why he believes that love isn't real."  "I beg of you Arohi, please don't give up on him." "Please don't give up on your love because deep down I know he cares about you a lot...he's just not ready to speak the words out loud yet."  Arohi looked at her mother in laws glistening eyes.  She didn't know what to do or what to believe.  "Just think about it, that's all I ask." her mother in law said, squeezing Arohi's hand.  Arohi slowly nodded.  But she didn't want to think about this anymore.  She didn't want to think about how messed up her life was or that every time she thought about leaving Arjun forever, about never seeing him again... she felt like her heart was breaking all over again.  She didn't want to think or feel anything anymore, she just wanted to be numb.

The next evening Reena stood in the hallway, fear evident on her face.  What was he doing here?! she thought worriedly.  "Reena, are you okay?" Arohi asked as she passed her on the way to the dining room.  "Huh, yeah, everything, everything is fine." Reena replied quickly.  Arohi looked at her suspiciously.  "You don't seem fine." she replied.  "Is Gia okay?" she asked.  "Gia's fine, she's playing." Reena answered.  "Rajan, my husband..he's outside at the gate."  Security isn't letting him in but they've told me he's here and he's...he's come to get Gia and I." Reena replied tearfully.  "Reena, you have no reason to worry, I told you that man can't do anything to you." Arohi replied.  "I'll go talk to him." she added suddenly.  "Talk to him?!"  "No, no," Reena qucikly replied.  "I don't think that's a good idea."  she added.  "No, he needs to be told what will happen to him if he tries to come near you again and I don't want you to have to see that man."  "Don't worry about me, Arjun has more security out there then Buckingham Palace has guards!"  "I'll be fine." Arohi said reassuringly.  Stepping outside Arohi walked down to the main gate which took a good 5 minutes.  "Good evening Maam"  Arohi smiled and greeted the men standing guard.  On the other side of the gate, outside their property line stood a tall, thin, greasy, unkept looking man.  Giving her a quick once over he smiled showing his front tooth missing.  The way he looked at her made Arohi's skin crawl.  Why did she come out here again?  "Are you Rajan?" she asked.  The man started walking towards her and security quickly blocked his entrance on to the property.  "Back up!" one of the guards shouted into Rajan's face.  "Look at this Madam ji, I'm just here to get my wife and daughter and these people are hassling me."  "Now could you please just call them out and we'll all be on our way." he said, giving her that slimy smile again.   "Reena and Gia aren't going anywhere with an animal like you!" Arohi snapped.  "I've just come out to tell you that if you so much as look at them again, you'll be thrown in jail so fast your head will spin." Arohi snapped.  "Oh madam ji, why are you saying these things, I'm just a poor man, all I have is my family."  "Why would you try to take my family away." he asked.  "Take your family away?!" Arohi snapped.  "You're a disgusting animal and someone should do to you, what you did to your wife!" Arohi snapped.  "Remember what I said about even looking at them." she snapped.  "What if I look at you?" he said with a lecherous smirk on his face.  His tongue coming out to lick his lips.  Arohi cringed and security were on the man in seconds, pushing him down the street.  An unsettling feeling spread through Arohi as she glanced back at the man who was already down the street.  Trying to shake the feeling she walked back towards her home.

"AROHI!" Arjun's voice boomed as their bedroom door slammed open and Arjun roared in.  He looked fit to be tied.  Arohi who had just come out of her bath looked at him and thought now what!  "What, what..." Arjun was saying as he paced and swore.  "What what?" Arohi asked.  "What what?!"  "What the hell are you trying to prove?!"  "What do you think you are?" he roared, walking to the bedroom door and slamming it shut.  Arohi stared at him.  "I don't know what you're talking about." she replied.  "Do you not have any idea what could have happened to you or what that sleaze could have done to you?!" Arjun demanded.  He was furious, absolutely furious.  He had just arrived home when his head of security apprised him of what had occurred.  "What the hell do you think you were doing confronting that freak by yourself?"  "Who do you think you are?"  "What did you think you were going to accomplish?"  "The guy is obviously psychotic, what if he had a gun?" Arjun shouted.  "Arjun, calm down."  "I wasn't by myself, your security team was also there!" Arohi snapped.  "I don't freakin care!" Arjun roared.  "You are never, ever to do something so foolish again!"  "Do you understand me Arohi?" he snapped.  Arohi glared back at him.  Grabbing her arm he pulled her against him.  "I want to hear you say the words Arohi...I will never do something to purposely put myself in harms way again!" he barked.  "Let go!" Arohi snapped.  "Listen you crazy woman, I am not letting go until I hear the words!" Arjun snapped.  His eyes flashing.  "You could have been hurt Arohi."  "You never understand the seriousness of any situation you just jump right in and then think later!"  "That man that you were so quick to go confront, that man is an ex convict!" Arjun snapped.  "I don't want you ever speaking to him again!" Arjun snapped.  "Security knows to call the police if he's even seen in an 100 mile radius of our home." Arjun added.  "I haven't heard the bloody words yet Arohi!" he snapped waiting for her to speak.  "Fine, I will never do something to purposely put myself in harms way again!" she snapped.  "Good because if I find out you've pulled another one of these Mother Arohi schemes of yours so help me god Arohi I am going to lock you up in this room!" Arjun snapped.  Arohi gasped and struggled until Arjun let her go.  "You self righteous jerk!"  "I am not an idiot that I would put myself in harms way, you have enough security out there why should I have been afraid" Arohi asked.  "You should be afraid because this isn't your let's save this stray dog or community center foolishness, this is a criminal you're dealing with!"  "I will not have my wife anywhere near a man like that."  "And if you do pull this again then Reena and her daughter are out!" Arjun lied.  "Huh?'  "You wouldn't!" Arohi snapped.  "Try me Arohi?"  "Just bloody well try me!" he snapped back.   The two of them stared each other down until Arohi finally looked away.  "Fine, if he comes back I'll leave it to your security to deal with the siltation."  "He was disgusting anyways, I wouldn't go near him again." Arohi replied.  Arjun watched her hug herself as if she was cold.  "Did he say something to you?" he suddenly asked.  Arohi looked up at Arjun.  "No..." she began hesitantly.  "What did he say to you?" Arjun growled.  "Nothing, he's sleazy he just made some lecherous comment." Arohi replied.  Arjun's eyes widened and his lips tightened.  "I'm gonna kill that bast**d!" he snapped, turning on his heal.  Arohi caught his arm as he got to the door.  "Arjun, stop it!"  "You're over reacting, he was just trying to scare me."  "It's Reena and Gia he wants,  I just need to convince Reena to press charges and he'll be off to jail again." Arohi said.  "When are you going to stop meddling in other's people's business?"  "Why don't you leave well enough alone..this was not your fight and you got yourself involved which means you got me involved!" he said shaking his head.  Arohi stiffened and let his arm go.  "First of all, I'm not meddling, I'm helping."  "Second of all I couldn't leave well enough alone because nothing was well enough!"  "Reena was being abused!"  "How could I just stand back and not do anything?" "And thirdly, just because I'm involved doesn't mean you need to be!" she snapped   "The hell it doesn't!" 'You're my wife and I'm not going to stand back and let you walk into a dangerous situation!" Arjun snapped.  Arohi looked into his face, his eyes still angry.  "Careful Arjun, if someone didn't know better they might think you actually care about me." Arohi said softly.  Arjun stiffened and turning around stalked out of the room leaving a confused Arohi behind.
