"Jake and Veronica, stop it!" You yelled as your grandchildren continued to fight and misbehave. Their parents needed a vacation, so they were staying at your house for the week. Sure, you loved them, but they were always jumping around and had endless amounts of energy. But the worst part was that since they were both seven, they didn't understand you very well, and called everything you liked boring, old, and stupid. It was only the first night and you already wanted to rip your hair out.
Suddenly, you heard the sound of broken glass. One of them had broken an expensive vase, but not just any old vase, one that your lifelong best friend and celebrity Paul McCartney gave you as a birthday gift.
"I didn't do it!" Jake and Veronica yelled in unison. You sighed, fighting back tears, rushing to your room to do the only thing that calms you: listening to Paul.
You listened to Egypt Station, playing Confidante over and over. You knew that it had to have some meaning, but you couldn't think of it.
Just then, Jake and Veronica came in to apologize. "I'm sorry, grandma, I didn't mean to break it," Jake admitted. "Why do you care about it so much anyway? It's just a stupid vase." You were nearly on the verge of tears. You sighed and thought that maybe today was the day you let everything out, release your emotions and share your true feelings to your grandchildren.
"Jake, there's a reason I loved that vase so much. I think now is the time to tell you kids a story."
