The biggest impact of the Beatles' breakup wasn't done to the world, no, it was done to me. That may sound selfish on my part, but what I have to say next crushed my heart. I was never the same.

"But he was your best friend! That's not fair!" Jake questioned.

You had the same opinion. Your breath hitched in your throat and you continued your story, the heartbreaking truth.

Paul may have been satisfied with this album, but nothing felt right to him afterwards. I guided him through his pain of the Beatles' breakup, and I could tell he appreciated that. He felt more confident, writing more experimental songs that I'd hear every so often.

It was never clear why on that stormy night, he gave up.

I was terrified of thunder, which was usually an excuse for him to pull me closer, but not tonight. He only sighed as I held his hand, letting go of it sadly.

"What's the matter, Paulie? You seem sad." I should've never asked that question.

"Y/N, I've got something to tell you..."

"Ok."

"Listen, I don't think our relationship is working out. Of course we can still be friends because we have a strong bond, but I'll be on my way now."

"You're leaving?!"

"I'm sorry, Y/N, please, we can hang out again, I promise."

With that, he walked out on me.

"Paul...why?"

It was too late. He was gone.

We never did end up crossing paths again.

So much for staying friends...
