Veronica's POV
Jake went down first to tell grandma the exciting news. I wasn't watching, but I listened:"Grandma...you ok?"
Wait...what?
"Well, I just wanted to say that-"
"Hey Jake did you tell her that- AHHH!" I panicked.
It all made sense. This was why she stopped crying when we had our idea. This was why she pushed us away.
Jake was obviously too idiotic to realize the situation we're in: our grandmother just attempted suicide from depression. He stood there with a blank expression on his face the entire time.
"JAKE THIS IS SERIOUS! GET HER DOWN!"
I started hyperventilating, praying that Jake knew what he was doing. Based on the situations he's usually in, he probably didn't.
Thankfully, I was dead wrong. Well, I guess even a broken clock can be right at least twice a day.
My concern now was grandma...is she alright? I checked her pulse and she is alive, but she blacked out.
"Jake, what can we do? How are we supposed to help?"
"Before I answer those smarty pants questions of yours, will you please explain to me what's going on?"
Are you serious right now?
"JAKE! GRANDMA JUST TRIED TO KILL HERSELF BY HANGING HERSELF! SHE DID IT BECAUSE SHE IS DEPRESSED AND MISSES PAUL, MEANING THAT THIS CONCERT MEANS MORE THAN EVER! WE NEED HELP!"
He finally understood, hanging his head in shame.
"I'm sorry I'm not as smart as you, Veronica..."
I felt a little bad for snapping, but I couldn't help it. I was too worried at the moment.
All I wanted was to help. All I wanted was to make her happy.
Is this too much to ask?
