Paul's POV
The clock had struck midnight. I had awoken from my slumber to use the bathroom briefly when I laid my eyes on Y/N's peaceful sleeping figure.

She's such an angel.

Before I could crawl back into the warmth of the blankets and comfort of Y/N's presence, a voice is heard from the hallway.

"Paul? You're awake?"

I jumped. Jake? What could he want at this time of night? And more importantly, what would he want with me?

"Jake? What are you doing up so late?" I yelled in a whisper.

"I was hungry," he admitted. "and I just wanted to know if you were off again tomorrow."

"Tomorrow's my last day until another round of tours, but yes, I am. Why?"

"Youll see..." he muttered and hurried back to his room.

How weird. Just a few days ago, Jake detested me. Now, with the help of a song, his view is different, and has an open mind?

I'll certainly take it.

The next day was spent packing for the tours ahead. We had finished rather early, giving us time to do whatever we pleased.

Jake approached me, ready to convey his thoughts with me.

"Paul...I just want to apologize for everything. I've been a brat these past few days..."

I smiled. "It's alright, Jake."

"I have to show you something, " He leads me to a closet, containing shards of broken glass. "this is grandma's vase you gave to her. I broke it. She hasn't thrown it away yet because it reminds her of you. Of course, now that she has you, I don't know what she'll do with it."

I studied what was left of the vase, memories flooding back of the day I gave it to her. I picked up a sliver with my childish handwriting on it. I almost felt like crying seeing the destroyed recollection.

"Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you cry."

"No, no. Don't apologize. Y'know, Jake, I'm glad you showed me this. Maybe I can trust you with two very important thoughts of mine..."

"Really? What are they?"

"Jake...you must promise me that you won't tell anyone."

"Not even Veronica?"

"She is the only one who you can tell."
