It's What I Needed

Chris Leaves tomorrow, it's been a smooth transition moving in with him. We took the twins shopping and let them get new beds, dressers and even a few clothes. Chris went food shopping about an hour ago and the twins are swimming out back, while this tired mama gets a shower. His shower is absolutely amazing, three fucking shower heads and you could fit at least five people in it, not that I would. I guess I should say it's my shower now too.

I turn the water off and quickly grab my towel. I hear the door bell ringing over and over. I yell for the kids to get it but still it rings and rings. I wrap myself in the towel and run downstairs.

Upon opening the door I see Derek standing there. "What are you doing here?" I ask him pulling my towel up more. He scans my body up and down, I clear my throat and he looks back up at my eyes, face flushed. "Sorry, uh you look amazing." I nod and give him a half smile, "Thanks, I took up yoga with the girls. Did you need something?" He snaps his fingers as if he remembered why he was here. "I wanted to know if I could take the kids to Dad's show tonight in Atlanta." He couldn't have called me to ask that.

"When would you be back?" I can't believe I'm having a conversation with him in my damn towel. "If it's okay with you, Dad was going to put us up and we were going to go to Six Flags, Come back late Saturday night. We'd leave tonight." Chris pulls up and Derek turns to wave at him. "Um, you know what I'm ok with it. You can go run it by them if you want. They're out back swimming." I say and let him in. Chris walks in arms full of bags.

"What's going on? Why are you in a towel?" He asks closing the door behind him with his foot. "Put that away and come up when you're done. I need to finish getting dressed." I tell him and quickly run upstairs.

Moments later Chris comes up just as I'm buttoning up my pants. He leans in the door frame, arms crossed and giving me a sexy smile. "So what's going on now?" He asks. I fill him in on what Derek had said. "Oh well that sounds like fun. I haven't seen Sterling play, I'd love too one day." I glide over to him and hug him, "Yeah, he's really good. But at least we will have tonight to ourselves." I love that when he smiles his eyes smile too. We walk downstairs hand in hand.

"Mom, did dad..." Eli starts, "Yes he did and I already said you can go." I tell them and they hug me. "Oh but we'll miss seeing Chris off." Alaina says. "Lanes, hey it's fine. You can say bye to me tonight. What time you leaving?" Chris asks and Derek says five. "Ok, so we'll have an early dinner, Derek you wanna stay for dinner?" I truly admire how Chris can just put things aside and be nice to Derek. He doesn't have to be but he is. I personally think it pisses Derek off, it leaves him with no reason to hate him other than the fact he is with me.

Derek almost doesn't know what to do or say. We had him over for dinner the night we moved and to say it was awkward is down playing it. "Um, no, I um, actually have to go home and uh pack. But thank you. Maybe another time. I'll be back in a couple hours." He states then tells the kids before scurrying out the door.

"You two go shower and get some things packed too." I tell them. "Maggie, am I trying too hard with him? I mean I know it's entirely implausible for all of us to be friends again, but do you think I'm making any head way?" Chris asks. "You're doing fine. And honestly I think you're too nice to him sometimes. He's an ass, but he'll come around." He rolls his eyes but smiles at me. Chris walks over to me slowly, looking me up and down. "Next time use the security system and see who's at the door before answering the door in your towel." He pulls my close to him.

"I didn't plan on it. Why you jealous?" He bites on my shoulder releasing a squeal from me. "I don't have to be jealous sweetheart, you're living with me. The better man won." He whispers along my neck. "No. Chris there was no winner or loser in my divorce." He pulls back and leans against the banister. "Aren't you happier now? I'd say that's a winner." He cocks his head to the side. "Yes, I guess you're right. So what are the plans for tonight since we'll be alone."
