It's day three of living in Boston. There is certainly plenty of room for everyone to stay. With the help of Chris' family, Bailey and her friends, the twins and Simon we're practically moved in. All our friends are flying in tonight. I'm in the obnoxiously large kitchen pantry putting away more things.
"MOM!" I hear Bailey shout. I shout back my location and soon I hear her feet running echoing through the lightly furnished mansion. "You just had to get a fancy ass mansion, after I've moved off to college? You could fit like twenty dorm rooms in one of the bedrooms here." She complains as Briar and Logan catch up to her. "Whatever room you like, you can pick out for just you when you come to visit. You'll always have a room where ever we live." I hug her.
"Just make talk to the twins first. You guys hungry?" I ask them and they nod vigorously. Chris comes in front outside with Eli. Eli, is just as tall as Chris and it makes my heart swell seeing how close they have become. "Sit, I'm making lunch. Where's Alaina?" Chris points towards the main living room and there she is making her way towards us. "Mom, is everyone coming tonight?" She asks taking a seat at the large bar, that could easily fit twelve people. "Yes, but not until late. I think Liv said nine or ten. You three better get the room situation squared away." I look to all three of them.
"I was just talking to Chris about my room. I got mine handled, these two are behind." He says wiggling his thumbs between Alaina and Bailey. "What about your room?" He and Chris both go on to tell me about how he wants to paint his room and make it a chill place, his words. "Chris said he's help with building stuff." He's really excited about it and it seems Chris is as well. I finish up making some sandwiches fro everyone and the kids all take theirs out back by the pool.
"So, is, everyone coming?" Chris asks. "I haven't heard from him. He's obviously still mad about the move. I sent him the address. So we'll see." I say as I take a bite of my lunch. Chris sighs, "I don't like not knowing if he's coming. Do the others know anything?" I shake my head. "So, Logan's a nice kid. Can we call him a kid when he's closer to thirty?" He asks which makes me giggle. "Hey, I wanna take you out tonight. Show you the city." He says walking around the counter to put his plate away. "I think that would be amazing and definitely welcomed. After all this moving I need a little break." He wraps his arms around me and spins me to face him. "I love you. Thank you." He kisses my lips softly.
"I love you too but thanks for what?" I ask as we both begin to make our way upstairs to tackle the guest bedrooms. "For being you and for leaving your hometown to live in mine. For leaving all your friends behind, for trusting me." I stop and look at him. "Don't think me for all that. I'd do it again without a thought because I love you. You're my husband. If the roles were reversed, you'd do it too." He thinks for a minute then smiles while he nods, "Yeah, you're right I would."
Several hours later and everything is where it should be. All the rooms are done, bathrooms stocked, and my feet hurt. Chris informs me he's going to shower up. I head back downstairs to find the kids watching a movie. Bailey and Logan are a little too close for my liking, but she's a big girl. I was living with Derek and helping raise her at her age.
"Hey Chris and I are gonna head out. I'll leave some money on the counter for pizza or whatever. You all gonna behave?" I ask them. "Mrs. Doran, if it's alright with you I was planning on treating you all to dinner?" Logan says. How sweet of him. "Oh well let's talk to Chris when he comes down. Maybe we can separate after dinner and explore the city." I say and Chris walks down clad with his trusted Red Sox hat, white tee, blue L.L Bean cardigan and tan pants. Logan stands to talk to Chris. He explains what he had just told me.
"Where were you thinking of going?" Chris asks him. Logan fidgets with his phone, "I heard about this place around here, um hold on my phone isn't loading. I think it's called Papa Gino's?" He says sounding unsure of himself. Chris laughs, "Yeah that's it. I used to go there all the time with my family. We can do that, let's get going before we have to wait for a table." He says gripping Logan's shoulder. "You know you're not paying though right?" He tells him. Logan laughs nervously and nods.
