I Can't Believe You Didn't Tell Me!

Forty six days later...

Chris is still in Alaska filing. We call or text everyday and even manage to squeeze in a video call here and there. After he left everyone stayed the remainder of their stay, a week. Derek stayed an extra day and flew out with Bailey.

Two days after everyone was gone I started work with Andie. It felt nice to get back to work, although I have to navigate my way around the area and familiarize myself with everything. I also began working on painting a few props for the Concord youth theater. Lisa didn't have to give me my own office or a title, I would have done all this anyway, but she did. 

Over that past few weeks I've been feeling so tired. Andie recommended I go see her Dr. So I did and come to find out I'm ten weeks pregnant. I'm not going to get excited just yet or tell anyone. My new Ob, Dr. Yang has me coming in every week for a check up since I've previously miscarried two times. She says everything so far is going fine. She says once I hit fourteen weeks, the second trimester there should be no reason to worry anymore. Luckliy it's getting colder here, so I can get away with wearing oversized sweaters and leggings.

It's been an adjustement moving here and not having my besties right down the block. I feel like this house is too much for us now that it's just the twins and I. Don't get me wrong I love it and wouldn't change it for anything but it's better when Chris is here.

Today is my day off, I almost forgot what those were. Not owning a reality company has it's perks. Although later on in the day I'am going to the theater to watch the kids rehearse. Lisa, bless her heart managed to rope the twins into helping as well. The twins will be heading over there after school in about three hours. I hear my phone chiming from the kitchen, I quickly make my way towards it in the main living area. I see it's Derek, "Hey, what's up?" I answer sitting on the couch. "Nothing much, um I was just thinking about thanksgiving and Christmas, how are we gonna work those out?" He asks.

"Well Lisa has asked us to spend them with her, I said I'd talk to you first. What would you like to do? But before you answer just know that Lisa said you are more than welcome as well." I tell him and I know him to well to know that at that very moment he is rolling his eyes. "To be honest I was gonna ask you if I could join you guys. I didn't want you spend your first holidays in a new town, new home without your kids. I'll fly out." I'm surprised by his response. "That's really sweet of you Der, the kids will appresciate it. How have you been doing?" I ask him.

"Good, still sober. Going to my meetings every week. Olivia and Laura miss you too much, they are always bothering me." He explains that he and the others get together every weekend since they've been back and play games or watch movies. I'm glad they all do that. Keeps Derek occupied and really helps with his recovery. "Well I feel I've talked your ear off enough, I'll talk to you later, Maggie." After hanging up I realize we were on the phone close to two hours. It certainly didn't feel like that long.

A week later and I'm back at my Ob's office for my weekly visit. I sit up and wipe the jelly off my small bump of a belly. "Maggie, you're having a perfect pregnancy so far. I see no reason to continue hiding it." She says with a laugh. She didn't fully understand why I wanted to wait, but grasped the idea of why. "Well I didn't make it this far before. I also want to tell my husband in person, so I will wait till he gets home."

"Which will be when?" Dr. Yang asks. "Well he says another two weeks or a month depends." I have to admit hiding it from everyone has been no easy task but I just didn't want to get my hopes along with everyone else's up. "Ok well, let's put your appointments to every two weeks ok." I nod feeling very confident now as I leave.

I have an idea on how I'm going to tell him. I want it to be special for him. Only problem is I'm going to need help. I call Andie on my way to a local shirt shop. "Hey Mags." She answers. "Hey, I need your help with something and you also have to keep a secret." I explain. "Ok, what's going on?" I'm nervous to tell her but I know she can keep this a secret. "I have a big surpize for Chris, well everyone really. But I was hoping you would want to do a photoshoot for us." She says of course she will but also asks what else is going on.
