The feeling

Chapter 4

Meryl had been crying for 10 minutes now and Don didn't know what to do. They both said that the cops should not be involved because it would only make it worse.

"Honey let's go lay down and have a nice relaxing night, that's what we need" don said as Meryl stood up and looked down at him.

"I'm sorry I ruined our night" Meryl said with tears in her eyes.

"Hey you didn't ruin anything" don said getting up and placing his hand on her cheek "Let's just go to bed and try to put this behind us for now, okay?"

Meryl looked at Don and said "okay" with a kiss to his hand.

Through out the night Don was tossing and turning and finally he got out of bed. He went over to the window and looked out it and just watched all the cars drive by.

"Meryl can you tell me his name?" Asked the officer that was in charge of her case.

"No I never heard him say what it was and I never found anything with a name on it while I was in that hell hole" Meryl said as Don sat by her and held her hand.

"That's alright Mrs. Gummer were gonna find him and bring him to his very own personal hell" said the officer.

"I'm sure the doctors told you not to scrub when you do shower, your not dirty Mrs.Gummer it's completely normal to feel like you are but your aren't" the office told the women who would hardly  even look at anyone.

"Thank you detective we appreciate everything your doing" Don said as Meryl only looked at the ground.

As the officer left, don let go of her hand and said "hey do you want to take a bath? I know you've been wanting to take one and I can get you some of those bath salts you like".

"She's right" Meryl said "I am dirty and you think so too. And don't tell me that you think I smell good either because we both know that I do not smell like your wife." Meryl yelled " I'm not the woman you married anymore, I flinch at your touch and I can't look at you in the eye because I know that if I look into your eyes I'm going to break like a piece of glass".

"Meryl..." don began to say something until she interrupted him.

"I'll never be who I was before, I'll never be able to go out without feeling like I'm being watched, and I'll never be the woman I was before because I'm used and wasted and no longer good!" Meryl yelled at the one person she knew could handle her yelling.

Don looked at her and went to and took her head in his hands and forced her to look into his eyes"I will not sit here and listen to the lies your saying about yourself."

"I will never stop loving you and if you think that I'm gonna get scared and run off and leave you, you better think again" he said as she finally looked him in the eyes and finally relaxed.

Don had missed her smile and knew that from this day forward he would never give up on his girl and would always be there to put a smile on her face.

As Don collected his thoughts and turned to get back into bed, Meryl had moved to his side of the bed and was laying on his pillow. He went over to her and moved her sleeping body over so he could climb back into bed. Just as he laid down she had curled up to his side and was fast asleep. Don had finally himself fell asleep and was getting ready for the challenge that may lay ahead.

Meryl woke up the next morning and immediately looked around to make sure she was safe, and she was. Don was laying beside her and she watched for only a moment and then got up and went to shower. She hoped that he would just sleep and get a little bit more sleep before they drove home.
