The feeling

Chapter 11

David stood up and walked to the front of the court room. His chains clanked when he walked to the stand. He was humming while he walked up to the stand and sat down. Meryl was feeling nauseous after her testimony. And now it was his turn to tell his side; which his side is the wrong side. He's gonna twist the truth about what really happening. And if it works he'll get out and try for round two with her.

"Tell us Mr. Bakker, where were you the night of Mrs. Gummer's movie premiere" Meryl's lawyer asked.

"I was waiting up for her in the back alley. I told her the night before that we should meet up. She told me that she was leaving her husband for me. We've been together for about four months and we're in love" David finished.

Meryl sat there and listened to all the lies he was telling. When he said she was leaving Don, it made her angry. She would never in a million years do that. This was getting out of hand; she just hopes that no one believes a word he says.

"That's funny" Anderson began, "because I've got the security tap from behind the building". He played the video and it showed Meryl talking to him. Than it showed David grabbing her and trying to get her stay quiet. It than showed Meryl kicking him and tying to run away. She remembers that feeling she had that night: pure fear. In the video David manages to grab Meryl and put a rag over her face.

"Tell me Mr. Bakker, does that show a women going willingly with her so called 'lover'?" Anderson asked.

"Well she had to act like that so her husband that she was being taken. We didn't want him to know the real truth" David said not convincing anyone.

"And when the police searched the place you held Mrs. Gummer, did they or did they not find her blood on the ground. Now Explain to me why their would be her blood of this is a romantic meeting" Anderson asked.

"She got a bloody nose while we were there. I mean these questions are absurd. Your trying to make me look like I'm some animal" David said as Don laughed at the things this man was saying.

Anderson knew that they got him so he decided he was done asking questions. "I've got no more questions for this witness".

"Martin, your up" Said the judge.

"Mr. Bakker, Isn't true that you and Mrs. Gummer set up a meeting?" Martin asked.

"Yes, we had seen each other around and she wanted to get together. From the first time we saw each other I knew it was fate" David said looking at Meryl.

Meryl felt even more nauseous when he looked at her. It was the same way he looked at her when she was in captivity. Don on the other hand was sick and tired of hearing these lies about his wife. This man makes her sick to her stomach. And here he is making it worse for her.

"Now can you tell us about the pictures in your house. You have several pictures of Mrs. Gummer that it looks like you took" Martin said and than showed the jury the pictures. There was pictures of Meryl outside in her garden. And pictures of her walking around the grocery store. EVERYWHERE.

"I took them to make sure...to..um... see if she was in danger" he said coming up with things as he went on.

"Danger" his lawyer asked him. Martin was sure that when they went through his testimony that was not part of it. "Why would you think she was in danger? I mean she was alone in most of these. Tell us".

David was getting angry. His lawyer was trying to put words into his mouth and he can't lie anymore. "I took them to have. I needed pictures of her because I've wanted her for a very long time. And when I finally saw her alone outside that movie premiere. I took my chance and went in" David said.
