Okay guys I actually had to go do some research for this short story to make sense. Here is some more history for you guys.
South Korea: Korea was still Korea until after the war. (Meaning it became North and South after the war.) Korea was in fact being occupied by Japan during the war also. So Koreans fought with the Japanese because they basically had too. They didn't really have a choice. Then after the war Korea was then split into two because they were then free of Japan's rule. The Soviet Communists influenced the North side caused the North to become communistic. The South was influenced by the United States which is why it is so fabulous today... JK.
The Philippines: During this time the U.S was in close ties with the Philippines. Japan had this whole thing that Asia should belong to the Asians... For example: The Philippines was under the US, Malaysia and Hong Kong were under the UK, and I'm pretty sure that Indonesia was under The Netherlands. So basically Japan went after the whole MaPhilIndo trio. Japan invaded The Philippines and basically was extremely rude. I'm trying not to curse here... Blah Blah Blah google the rest I think I already explained the Philippines in the first part.

Yong Soo's Point of View
"I here to talk to you." I said trying to keep my temper.
"Oh? Is that so?" He said as he let me in. We sat and Taiwan offered us some tea. I thanked her and she nodded. "What is troubring you?" He asked.
"Well Japan. I don't really know much about you. I've only been a country for about 60 years. (60 years ago Korea split in 2) You did play a rather large part in World War 2, correct?" I asked cooly.
"Hai. That is true." He said as he took a sip.
"Well I was informed that you did occupy my fatherland. (Korea is North and South's Father.) And that you also occupied a certain group of islands that I hold dear to me." I said. Japan nodded.
"You are correct again." He said.
"Well, I learned that you ruled with a harsh hand and that your people-" I was then cut off.
"Don't you mean our people?" He said as he set his cup down.
"What do you mean?" I asked in confusion.
"It's true that I did occupy Korea. And it's true I did invade your previous Philippines. But there is something that you don't know." He chuckled. My eyebrows furrowed as I tried to comprehend his words. "Your father fought right by my side. So technically it would be our people that caused all of this pain you accuse me of to your precious Philippines. So I would not argue." He said. My heart dropped into my stomach. I...me? I had a part in this?
"But...no! My father had no choice other than to fight along side you!" I shouted standing up. He stood up calmly and chuckled.
"That still doesn't make your people innocent. Whoever showed hate toward your girlfriend's people that is what they did. I may have forced your people but I did not give them their fury." He said. I wanted to scream. Bile rose in my throat as my mind put pieces together. I sat down and I hid my face. I almost spoke but I was interrupted by a doorbell. Taiwan went to answer the door. I removed my hands and looked toward the door. I saw a woman with golden brown hair greet Taiwan with a worried smile.
"Is Japan okay?" I heard her soft voice ask. Why should she be concerned about him.
"Yes. I just served him and South Korea tea. I did hear some shouting but everyone is in one piece." Taiwan said. She let Maria in and she sighed in the relief when she saw us. Japan went back to sipping his tea.
"Herro Piripinas. Wourd you rike some tea?" He asked. How dare he speak to her.
"Hello Señor Hapon." She greeted. "I am fine right now. Thanks for offering. Why was she being so polite?
"Yong Soo! You got me so worried about you. C'mon we're going home." She scolded. I sighed and stood up. How could she stand to look at my face if my people tortured her so?
She grasped my hand and dragged me away.
"Maria... I'm so sorry." I choked out.
"It's alright Yong Soo. Just don't run off like that again! You had me worried that I would have to bail you out of prison or something." Wait what? Oh.
"That's not what I meant... " I stopped her and lift her chin so her eyes could meet mine.
"Hmm? What it is?" She asked. I quickly pulled her into my chest and nuzzled my face into her hair.
"How can you stand to see my face when all it has done is cause you pain?" I asked, whispering into her ear. She gasped.
"South Korea. Your people had no choice." She argued.
"So? Their feeling were true. I bet some hurt you with bitter feelings."
"South Korea. You know what who I see when I see you? I see kindness. I see love. You weren't forced to fight. Korea was. You are a different country. Things have changed. My brother influenced you in the ways of America. You remind a lot like America. Yong Soo, because you're so kindhearted. " She said. She then left a small peck on my lips.
"사랑해 Maria." I said pressing my nose against her's as our foreheads rested upon each other's.
"Mahal din kita. I've finally decided to forget the past and I'll start a new future with you." She said.
