Maria's Point of View
I clenched the gun with my fingers, the weapon hid away in my pocket. My brother held his finger to his lip, silently shushing me. He then gave me a thumbs-up and we proceeded on our mission.
We....we were mobsters. It was our secret life. In the day, we were countries. We made sure that everything was doing fine. But at night.... we took matters into our own hands. None of our loved ones knew about this. My boyfriend just thought I had a night job, as a maid.
"Okay, our target is just a few feet away. We'll corner him in the alley and then shoot. He's the one with red hair and grey eyes." My brother Lovino reminded.
"Alright, I'm ready." I said pulling out the pistol. We walked calmly toward the man. Our heads were dropped, our hats pulled to our eyebrows. Once the man was nearing to pass us, Lovino quickly grabbed his arm and pinned his front to the building. The man gasped and tried to struggle. He stilled when he felt two guns pressed to his body. One on his back and one on his temple.
"...What.... what do you want from me?" The man asked terrified.
"Your breathing stopped and your heart still." My brother snapped. The sound of a gun rang off into the distance. He grabbed my wrist and hid as people began to investigate the bloodied body.
"Well that was close." I stated tucking my gun into my coat pocket. I took off my hat carrying it.
"Yeah, we need to be more careful." He said. I winced as police sirens sounded. "C'mon, let's go collect the reward." He smiled at me.
"Yeah yeah." I shrugged.
~
I rang the doorbell tapping my foot as we were waiting.
A large man stumbled out, his hair unruly and his shirt unbuttoned.
"Ya here for the money?" He hiccuped. His breath reeking of vodka and cigarettes. Lovino sighed.
"Yes." I answered folding my arms. The man went back into his home pulling out a giant trunk.
"Thanks for your service." He then shut the door.
"Service, I guess that's one way of putting it." Lovino muttered.
It took both of us to place the trunk into the car.
When we arrived at his house the money was split between us and ready to put into our bank accounts.
"Bye Kuya Lovi." I chirped. "Call me when there's a new case." I added hugging his middle.
"Bye Sorella~" He replied.
~~~~~~~"Yong Soo, I'm home!" I announced to the seemingly empty house.
"Welcome back!" I heard him shout back. I followed the voice to see him fangirling in our room watching drama. "Maria! You have to watch this with me, it's so cute and I can't even!" He exclaimed like a teenage girl.
"Okay, what's it about?" I asked crawling next to him as he was lying on his stomach on our bed.
"It's about this girl who falls in love with this guy and they she realized that the guy is a murderer and she helps him cover up his work. As morbid as it sounds it's really romantic." He said smiling at me.
"Sounds... cool." I shrugged curling against him. He wrapped an arm around my middle as we both watched closely.
~~~~~~~~
I took a deep breath as I quietly sat up. Yong Soo was softly snoring and I took my chance. I stood to pick up my lit phone, with a text from Lovino. I placed a note on the night table that I had a client that needed me ASAP. As I left the room, I could barely see out of the corner of my eye... his phone was lit too......
~~~~~~~~~
I knocked on Lovino's door and calmly tapped my foot. The door opened and Lovino brought me inside.
"Sorry for scheduling a case so late but the client has this all planned already." I nodded.
"It's a good thing I slept early." I commented. He handed me my coat which contained my weapon and my hat that hid my face along with a nice dress. "What's the dress for?" I asked. "Our client is inviting us the dinner, it also gives us an alibi." He answered adjusting his tie.~~~~~~~
I tilted the water in my glass watching as the ice hit the edges. I eyed Lovino as he made small talk with the client.
" Kuya, I think I'm ready, I got this one myself." I said standing. He looked up at me and nodded.
"Be careful." He said. I grabbed my coat and exited the restaurant. Once outside, I put on my coat and walked to where the client said the victim was going to be. My fingers brushed against the cool metal of my weapon. I saw an outline of a person, lit by the brightness emitted from the street lamps. I casually made my way toward the person. The person looked to be a male as his back was to me. I calmly pulled out my gun and quickly pressed his front against the wall and the gun against his back. He took in a sharp gasp and tensed up.
"P-Please don't shoot me." He pleaded. My hand shook as I heard the voice. Y-Yong Soo. (aah plot twist) "You might not have much to live for, to be randomly killing people and such, but I have a girlfriend that I need to get home too." He said shakily. "So please don't shoot." He added. I dropped the gun with a clank and tilted the hat past my eyebrows. The initial shock of almost murdering my own boyfriend washed over as I buried my face into his warm chest as I turned around. The dull beating of his heart ringing through my ears. I felt my hat being removed and my face being lifted. "M-Maria?" He asked with shock, his shirt soaking up my tears.
"What's going on here?" I heard Lovino's confused voice. "What is he doing here?"
"I was told to meet here by text." He said rubbing my back. "And next thing I know I'm pushed against a wall."
"I guess you failed." The client said coolly, tipping his hat revealing his features. His eyes were slit and a small grin was placed upon his face. His appearence was almost identical to Yong Soo's.
"Hyung Soo, I guessed it was you." Yong Soo sighed.
"You...YOU SICK BASTARD!" I screamed. His grin widened. I grabbed my gun pointing toward him. A gentle hand wrapped around my wrist and lowered the gun. A small smile lit his face and he grabbed the gun from my shaking hands. His face twisted into a scowl as he repositioned the gun back toward his brother.
"Leave." He took a step closer to him.
"Me" Another step.
"And My." Another.
"Family." One More.
"Alone" The gun was pressed to the other man's chest. A chuckle escaped his lips.
"I might and I might not." He said harshly. He then turned and walked away.
I'm sorry." I sighed as he approached me.
"It's not your fault, but... I would appreciate it if my girlfriend was not in the mafia." He chuckled taking my hand.
