They Adopted Me

Dreams

"Why did I even bother adopting you," said a voice. Alex turned her head, trying to find the voice. Thomas then appeared in front of her. His face had disgust written all over his face."Your weak, your nothing," he spat. Alex fell to the ground, tears falling down her face."Mistake, freak," said another voice. Ms. Seagram pulled her hair to look at her."Take her away," said Thomas,"she's no longer important to me". Ms. Seagram cackled. She pulled her, Thomas seemed happy. It broke her heart. Then Ms. Seagram lifted up her hand. She threw it at her face.

Before Ms. Seagram could hit her, Alex woke up. She woke up in a pool of sweat, taking shallow breaths. She hugged herself, repeating to herself it was just a dream. More tears fell down her face, she thought that it was true, that Thomas doesn't really care for her. Should she go to Thomas, tell she had a bad dream. The kids at the orphanage said they went to their parents when they had a bad dream, Thomas wasn't her dad. She would just bother him, she was just useless she thought. Before more tears could fall a pair of hands wrapped around her.

"It was just another bad dream," said Penny

"I know but it feels so....real," she answered.

The rest of her sides came and comfort her, telling it was just a bad dream. They fell asleep with her so if she had another bad dream they could help her. The next morning Thomas came into her room, hoping to ask her what she wanted for breakfast. He was surprised to find her sides curled up around her. The only one awake was Vera, who was skimming through Alex phone. When she looked at Thomas she put the phone down and got out of bed slowly, so not to wake the girls. "She had a bad dream, so we slept with her, so we could help her if she had another bad dream," said Vera. Thomas nodded, deciding he would just make pancakes.

While cleaning the dishes to make the batter his mind kept drifting to Alex and why she didn't go to him when she had a bad dream. Thomas was brought out of his thought when Alex came walking down the stairs, rubbing the sleep out of her eye. "Sleep well?" asked Thomas. Alex let out a half laugh. "You could say that," she answered tiredly.

He set down the pancakes in front of her, then the syrup. She leaned her head on her left hand, and ate with her right hand. Thomas noticed that her eyes would be half opened and would flutter open every time it seemed she was falling asleep. Thomas sat in front of her and studied her. Messy hair, like every morning, mark on her hand for sleeping under it. But he was surprised to see how tired she was, she usually woke up very peppy. "Tomorrow you start your first day of middle school, so I was wondering we could go out today and have some fun," he said.

This seem to wake Alex up, her eyes going wide and a smile appearing on her face. "I'll go get ready," was all she said. With one swift movement she got of her seat and ran up stairs to get ready. Thomas chuckled to himself and grabbed her plate to wash it. While washing his plate he heard footsteps, he turned around and saw Alex coming down. She was wearing her flannel jacket with a black tank top, with her black converse and shorts. While making herself a bun she threw him the keys to the car.

"Let's go," she hurried Thomas. He chuckled, they both got in the car. "So where do yo want to go first," asked Thomas.

"Mall, then lets go watch a movie," she said

~Time skip to the next day~

"Have good day," said Thomas. They were in the car, outside of Bayview Middle School. Where Alex was going. "No promises," she answered. Thomas opened the door for her to leave. Once out of the car he left. Alex looked at the car get smaller and smaller, until it was gone from her view. But before she could turn darkness covered her vison. Just darkness.
