Alex held her baby girl close to her chest. After hours of labor and months of back pain, she was finally able to hold her baby. Tears formed in her eyes, and this time she let them fall. They were tears of happiness. This little nugget of 8 pounds, 16 ounces and 15 inches meant so much to her, that she would give an arm and a leg just to see her be happy.
"Welcome to the world Marié," she whispered.
Travis came back in, coming back from the cafeteria, and sat down next to her. Leaning closer to her, he looked down at his daughter. She was sleeping. Her hair was brown, and they could only guess her eye color since she hadn't opened her eyes yet.
"She has your nose," he noted.
"And your eyebrows," she added.
Enjoying the moment, she closed her eyes. There weren't many moments where she could just close her eyes and make the world disappear. Feelling Marié stir around, she opened her eyes and soothed her back to sleep. Yet it was all pointless when the door was kicked open and came running in Roman followed by the Sides.
"Where's my grandbaby?!?!" he shouted.
Crying out, Marié began to sob uncontrollably, scared by the sudden sound. Realizing his mistake, Roman cowered back sheepishly. Sending him a glare, she turned her attention back to Marié. Taking out her breast (we ain't using b00b cuz we big kids here) to feed her, everyone looked away. Even Travis. But she's guessing that he did that only because her guardians were here.
"You can all look now," she told them.
"We tried stopping him, but you know Roman, nothing can stop," Thomas excused.
"It's alright, Dad," she reassured.
"Sorry, Princess. I was just really excited to see my grandbaby," Roman explained.
Once Marié calmed down, Alex put her breast back.
"Okay now that she's calm and fed, you guys can hold her," Alex announced.
Thomas was the first one to hold her. He made voices to entertain her, making her giggle a bit. Her laugh made the whole world seem a little less dark. Roman was the second to hold her, calling her every sweet nickname in the book, along with every female related royal position name. You could tell Roman was definitely going to spoil her rotten. Potton held her next. He was the most gentle of all, sitting down instead of standing up. He was telling her how beautiful and adorable she was. He kissed her forehead and passed her Logan. Logan was rather stiff with her, being the first time he held a baby. He was so awkward with her, not knowing what to say or do. Luckily the longer he was with her, the more comfortable he got. Up to the point where he was talking to her about the stock market. Virgil as the last to hold her. It took a lot of convincing for him to hold Marié. The poor man was scared he would hurt her or drop her. Luckily Alex was able to convince him otherwise. At first he held her awkwardly, wanting to make sure nothing happened to her. After a few minutes, he got more comfortable with her and held her closer. Soon he was telling her about his day and almost had a full on conversation with her.
After everyone had their turn holding Marié, they handed her back to Alex. She looked down at the little bean, amazed by how little she was.
"I'm glad you met your family, Marié. They're very important to me, just like you are. And just like you, they made me so happy. And I want to make you just as happy. I want you to be happy and smile. And even though they aren't your blood, they are your family. Because though blood is thicker than water, love is stronger than everything, as cliché was that sounds. But it's only cliché because it's true," she told her, even though she probably didn't even understand.
But I think she was saying more for herself. Saying the words her mother never told her, being the mother that she lacked. She would never want Marié going through the same thing she did. Years of rejection, and loneliness. Even when she had herself, it wasn't enough. She was one of the lucky ones. Finding a family that loved her and cared for her. She wanted to give Marié the same thing Thomas and the Sides gave her. Unconditional love and support. She looked at her for a moment.
"I will love you forever and ever. And that's a promise."
Now this would be the epilogue part, where I told you what happened after. But I don't like endings though. I think no one really does though. I like to think of this as a vacation. Where they live their life happy forever.
But this is what I can tell you. Alex and Travis had three more babies, Julia, Hunter, and William.
Marié became a wild spirit. Loving everything nature related. She started horseback riding when she was five years old. She rode in the woods when no one was around, knowing her parents wouldn't approve. But even as she did this, she was close with her parents. Closer with Travis, seeing as he treated her like his princess.
Julia was the shy type. Her nose being stuck into a book most of the time. Half of her books were romance, finding it intriguing after hearing her parents' love story. The other half was filled with fantasy books, finding ancient book like Narnia, Harry Potter, and Percy Jackson. She grew an odd fascination with rock, collection of rocks in her room.
Hunter, despite his name, became a vegetarian. After finding out about animal cruelty, the boy swore to never eat meat. He adored animals, taking multiple in, much to the dismay of his parents. More often than not, the young boy was in his backyard, looking for insects and small creatures to hold. He was the type to beg his sisters and brother not to kill a spider. He was the caring type, always making sure everyone was fed and well slept.
William, the youngest, was an oddball. He slept on the floor when he was younger, finding it more comforting than his bed. He didn't talk much, even as a child. He liked to draw more, liking the colors and the lines. Most of the time, he sat next to his mother, finding her presence comforting. He was the affectionate type, enjoying the warmth of a hug or a hand.
They lived happily in the suburbs, visiting their Grandparents, Thomas and Gerald, every other weekend.
They were happy. And i guess that was most important part.
That they were happy.
