Alex stares at the mirror, mixtures of happiness, relief, and... sadness filled her eyes. She was graduating high school. Four years of memories made in a building. Some good, some annoying and some bad. Yet she enjoyed her years at Lincoln High School.
It was where she found her love of photography, thanks to an after school program. It was there she found her best friend, Sienna Bin. She had been on so many adventures. But like all journeys, they all come to a stop. It hurt her to think that she would have to say goodbye to her hometown.During the school year she was accepted to a New York collage, which is pretty far from Florida. But it was all for the best.
"Princess, are you almost ready,"exclaimed Roman from downstairs.
"Almost!" She shouted back.
Sighing, she slipped on her gown. It was a beautiful sun gold color, which really made her hazel eyes pop. Going to her desk, she picked up her cap. Setting it on her curled hair, she looked at herself in the mirror. Making sure was presentable, she fixed her gown and cap. Happy with how she looked, she ventured downstairs. Blinded by a flash, her eyes adjusted to the light. Once she wasn't seeing blurry, she realized Patton had taken her picture.
"Aww my little girl is now a big girl," Patton wiped away a tear from his face.
"Aww Patton, you know I'll always be your little girl,"she stated as she went in to hug him.
"Even when you get married?"
"Even when I get married."
Breaking apart, Alex went on to say goodbye to everyone. She was going to drive herself, since wanted to have a mental breakdown by herself in the car. Besides, she had been driving herself since she got her car for her 17 birthday. It was a blue 2019 corolla. Nothing much to others, but to her it was her baby. Her big, blue baby.
Getting inside, she drove in silence all the way to her school. After 30 minutes, she has reached her destination. Parking the car, she sat in silence for another 30 minutes. Staring into space, debating if she should just dip and become a stripper. She knew Thomas would still be supportive.
"They do make a lot of money," stated Penny.
Unfazed by her motherly side popping up, she nodded.
"They do," Alex agreed.
"But then you would have to get half naked in front of men," stated Vera.
Nodding along. "True."
"And they mostly work at night, and you like your sleep," Riley pointed out.
"That too."
"And men suck," Laila exclaimed from the back seat.
"So no stripper," Alex stated.
At this point the whole car was packed by her Sides.
"Ok so let's go graduation and shit," Alex told everyone.
Disappearing, Alex was, once again, alone in her car. Sighing, she got out of the car and made her way to the football field, where she was going to graduate. About an hour passed and the ceremony was about to begin. Soon the names began to be called. Clapping along with the people, she clapped extra hard when she heard Travis's name being called.
Then her name was called. Getting up nervously, she walked up to the stage to receive her diploma. As she was on the stage, she spotted Thomas and the Sides waving at her. Sending them a small wave, she grabbed her diploma.
The rest of the names were called and the ceremony ended. Soon the valedictorian speech. Which in any other story would be by Alex. But Alex was surprised she was even graduating. She still didn't even understand ratios. So it was by a random chick that probably was in track and had pure A's.
And likes any white school, they threw their caps in the air. Which was kinda stupid in her mind. You work on a cap for at least a day only to throw it into the air and have to look for it for about an hour before heading home and forgetting about it. But she was white, so she threw it in the sky. After the hour that she had to look for her cap, she gathered with her family.
Crushed by hugs by her dads and uncles and aunts, she smiled. It wasn't everyday you graduated from high school. Which really wasn't a big thing, but it was another reason to throw a party.
Once the hugs were given, they went home. Inside, there were gallons and streamers from top to bottom. In the kitchen, there was a red velvet cake with congratulations for graduating school. Which she knew Virgil did that since it was purple frosting and in cursive (which only he could do).
Going up stairs to change, she switched her gown into sweatpants and a Star Wars t-shirt. Going downstairs, she was met with the sides in their onesies.
"Uh no. Go change into your Chewbacca onesie I got you for Christmas. We are having a onesie party, ok," Roman stated like the diva he is.
Rolling her eyes playfully, Alex went upstairs and changed into her Chewbacca onesie. Once that was done, the party had officially started.
The night was filled with laughter and joy. They binged Harry Potter movies, and simped over almost every male character, which c'mon we've all done at one point. They ain't a lot of unhealthy food, which wasn't that good for them the next morning. Then they ate a lot of sweet things, like the cake, which they finished by themselves because it was cake. Then after that they watched a Disney movie. Overall, it was a very fun night. A great way to close one of the best chapters of Alex's life book.
It was 5 am when they went to sleep. Well that was applied to the Sides and Thomas. For Alex it was staying up to talk to Travis. The couple spent the rest of the night talking about the future. Their future.
After they hung up, Alex layed in bed. Looking at her phone there was no point in sleeping. It was already 7:34. So she just stayed up and watched the sunrise. It was beautiful. It was like a sea of orange and yellow, coming together to make an endless vast of beauty.
"Wow, I actually made it to 18."
