Travis stood on the doorstep, ready to visit Alex. He wasn't sure whether this was a good idea or not. All he could do was hope that things could get better. He slowly knocked on the door, his breath hitching when he heard footsteps. The door opened and revealed Patton. His eyes landed on Travis, his smile bright. But Travis didn't feel worthy of that smile.
"Well what brings you here, kiddo," Patton chirped. Travis took a deep breath and let it out.
"I'm here to see Alex. I'm....I'm Travis," he stuttered. You could see Patton's smile falter and turn into a frown. It was evident. Patton wanted to lie, say she wasn't here. Slam the door in his face for breaking his little Princess's heart. But he couldn't bring himself to do so. He was to good. Patton made way for Travis to come in. Travis smiled and stepped in. But he was stopped by Patton's hand.
"Just... don't hurt my baby girl again," he stated like a sad father. Travis nodded and walked in. He saw all the other Sides. But once Roman saw the young boy, the hospitality soon faded away. He unshielded his sword and pointed it at Travis. His eyes held this fury that made Travis fear for his life.
"WHO LET, THIS FIEND OF A HEART BREAKER OF OUR PRECIOUS DAUGHTER, IN," exclaimed Roman dramatically. Logan just raised an eyebrow, unfazed by his behavior. Virgil jumped a bit and opened his eyes wider. Meanwhile, Roman was seathing with anger. Patton run up to him, and put his hands up in surrender.
"I let him in."
"But why?. You know what he did."
Travis fiddled with the hem his shirt. They spoke as if he wasn't there. He was caught in an awkward situation. Frustrated, he shouted over all the voices. "Please stop arguing. I am here to ask for forgiveness from Alex. I lost her and I want to win her again," he shouted. Silence fell. But through the silence Roman stepped in. "If what you say is true, then why after all this time?" He questioned.
Travis stepped forward and stared Roman in the eyes. "Because I realized how much of an idiot I was to let such an amazing girl go," he stated. Roman smiled, glad with the boy's answer. Patting his shoulders, he left. Travis thought he was free, so made his way to the stairs. But he was stopped by Virgil.
"Alex isn't a prize to be won. You need to conquer her. She is the best things in our lives. She conquered us," his gruff stated. Travis only nodded. Virgil poofed away and Travis ventured upstairs. Keep in mind it was 9:00 on a Saturday morning, so Alex was still in her pj's. Light strumming came from her room, making Travis smile. She always did love her music he thought.
The closer he got, the strumming got louder. Soon the noises merged into something familiar. A song. Their song. He knew the lyrics by heart. It was song that played when they shared their first kiss. Cheesy, right? Well on their fifth date (he covered all his bases before asking for a smooch), they went to a music store. And they held hands and he asked for a kiss. She giggled and nodded. And when they kissed, the song so happened to be playing in the background.
Leaning against the door he could hear her voice seep through the door.
(Italics is Alex , Bold is Travis, Both is both of them)
Wise men say, only fools rush in.
But I can't help falling in love you.
Oh, shall I stay, would it be to stay
Oh, if I can't help falling in love you?Oh, like a river flow, surely to the sea
Darling so it goes, some things are met to beTake my hand, take my whole life too
Oh, for I can't help falling in love with youHe entered the room and began to the second verse. As his voice filled the air, Alex almost stopped. But she still went on with the song. He could see the tears well up in her eyes.
Oh, like a river flows, surely to the sea
Darling, so it goes, some things are met toThe had sung this song so many times. Just for themselves. Cuddle, while singing. Sometimes Travis would sing it to her when she had a panic attack. Or she would like to sing him when he had a nightmare. And they would always sing the last piece together. It seemed some things don't change. The crack in her voice rang in his ears.
Oh take my hand, take my whole life too
For I can't help falling in love with you
Oh, for can't help falling in love with youBy the end, he was kneeling in front of her. The tears in her eyes fell and he wiped them away. She wanted to lean in to his touch. She wanted to grab his hand and kiss it. But she didn't. She stood still and stared at him. "Travis," her voice wavered. But he grabbed her hands and bowed his head. It hide his face from showing his face.
"I'm sorry. I was stupid to see how important you were to me. You were my anchor. My smile. My path. My everything. And losing you was the worse thing I could have done. I'm sorry, so so sorry," he looked up and she was seen the the sight of his teary eyes. Her eyes went wide. Never once in their relationship, did Travis ever shed a tear. It came as a surprise.
"Take me back. Please," he begged. It was so unlike him to beg. The air was filled with this unnatural feeling. Like breathing in helium instead of oxygen. Unnatural. She set her guitar to a side and kneeled in front of him. She held his hand and looked him in the eye. Caressing his cheek, she tested up again. Leaning for a soft kiss, the tears fell. Breaking apart, they stared at each other.
"I've missed you," she stated quietly. With the words said, Travis's mood shifted greatly. From sad eyes, to a happy aura. He gave her a quick peck and tackled her into a hug. It seemed he found what he was looking for. His Redemption.
