Sochi had not been very good to you. Being second in the formula 2 championship was not something you had ever thought would happen. George Russell was currently leading the championship, but you still had the chance to snatch the title from him. But on the other hand, you could also risk going down into third position. It was tricky and after Sochi you saw your chances of the title slipping away. Abu Dhabi wasn't in another two months, and you just wanted to be done with the season. If just you could quit it all. It would be so much easier. These were all of the thoughts that went through your mind, when you tried to fall asleep at night.
And on top of all of that, George had signed a contract with Williams yesterday. He was going to be driving in formula 1 next year. So was Lando Norris who was 3rd in the f2 championship. And then there were you. You had talked with Helmut Marko, advisor for both Red Bull teams in f1. He had said, that there might be seat available for you, but he couldn't promise anything.
Before you were going to Abu Dhabi for the final race of the season, you would spend some time with your family. If anyone could make you a bit happier, it would be them, and especially your twin brother Billy. You and Billy had always been close, and his accident only made you even closer. He wasn't much of a person to talk about the negatives about his accident, he always liked to look at the positive, but sometimes he just needed to talk to someone, and that someone would always be you.
You were laying in bed at home, as your phone suddenly rung. You didn't look at the screen to see who it was but just picked up. You were met by the voice of your cute boyfriend, Charles Leclerc, who sounded very happy today. You chatted a bit before he ended the call asking if he could come over to your house for dinner later. Your answer was of course yes, and you knew your parents would say yes as well, since they really seemed to like Charles.
At dinner you tried to be happy and cheerful like everybody else, but the thoughts were still running in your head. Were you good enough? What would happen next year? Would you get a chance in f1? Charles seemed to notice your lack of words, as you were usually very talkative. He put his hand on your thigh to rub soothing circles, which made you look up at him. He gave you a beaming smile, that you couldn't help smiling back at, but soon the thoughts and questions took over your brain again.
After dinner you and Charles to spend a bit of time together before you were going to watch a movie with Billy. Immediately after walking into your room and closing your door, Charles wrapped you up in a big warm hug. He lifted you up a bit and twirled you around a few times, before setting you back down on the ground. He cupped your cheeks with both of his hands, forcing you to look up into his beautiful sea green eyes.
"What's wrong, amour?" he asked you with worried eyes.
"It's just all of this pressure," you started, walking over to your bed to sit down. Charles followed you and sat down next to you and took your hands in his. "Both Lando and George know what they are doing next year, but I have absolutely no idea."
"You have nothing to be worried about."
"That's easy for you to say. You were f2 champion last year and then went to drive for Sauber in f1," you raised your voice a bit, unintentionally.
"I know it can be hard. I had doubts myself about a year ago, but if this is what you really want, it is going to happen, you just have to keep going and never give up." His words made you look up at him again. "You are an amazing driver, Y/N, and if other people can't see that, then it's their loss. I know you can win this, and I'm sure Billy thinks the same."
You eyes started watering at his words. He was too sweet for this world, and you had absolutely no idea what to do without him. You threw your arms around his neck and snuggled your head into his chest, finally letting all the tears run down your cheeks. You hadn't realised how much this was actually bothering you, but you knew it wasn't going to bother you anymore, because you had Charles and Billy to keep your head high, when you needed a bit of help.
Charles wrapped his arms around your tiny body and pressed you well into his chest, making you chuckle a bit, as he was almost crushing you.
"It's good to hear my princess laugh a bit again. I've missed it."
In that moment someone knocked on your door and in came Billy. He saw the tears that were still on your face and immediately went over to wrap you up in a warm bearhug. He instantly know what had happened, but was happy to see you finally let it all out.
A few weeks later you were in Abu Dhabi for the last race of the season. On friday you qualified on pole, and you couldn't be happier for a perfect start to the weekend. On saturday you won the feature race, and you were now leading the championship, although you hadn't secured it yet. On sunday in the sprint race you knew, you just had to finish the race ahead of George and the championship would be yours, and that's exactly what happened. You took home your second win of the weekend and with that also the title of FIA Formula 2 champion.
After the podium ceremony, you went to the garage to just sit a bit. As you sat there, looking at your beautiful trophy, Charles and Billy came walking in.
"There's the champion," Billy said with a big smile on his face.
"And just like that, you did it, and you even made it look easy," Charles chuckled, as they both walked towards you.
"I couldn't have done it without you two. I am so lucky to have you two in my life. Because of you I didn't give up. Thank you," you opened your arms for them to give them a little group hug.
The next day, when you were in the mall with your twin brother and boyfriend, you got a phone call. You picked up and after a few minutes of talking you hung up again. You tried not to freak out, but Charles and Billy quickly realised something exciting had happened, since you couldn't stop smiling.
"That was Helmut Marko," you started, "he wanted to know if I would be interesting in driving for Toro Rosso next year."
Charles and Billy looked at you with wide eyes and the biggest smile on their face.
"I'm going to be an f1 driver!" you nearly, or fully, screamed in excitement. Your dream had finally come true.
