You can leave, Roman. But you can't run from the truth. It will catch up before you even realize!
"LEAVE ME ALONE!" I screamed out into the pitch black, shivering against the cold that tore through my body. "Just shut up."
I can't do that Roman. Not when you're so close...
"You're not even real. Your... Your..."
I'm the guardian of the Royal treasures... ALL OF THEM.
"Guardian? HA!" I spun around just trying to find where the voice was coming from. "You failed at your job then. Whatever happened to the Human's treasure huh?!"
Whatever do you mean, Roman? The voice started to laugh and my blood ran cold. It's right here! I felt someone grab my arm and I spun around to see this dark transparent angel sprite thing and they smiled as the black melted away. Look.
"What..."
"So this is the young prince huh?" My eyes went wide as I turned around to see King Patton kneeling down to boop a very young child on the nose. My father was just standing there with this bright smile on his face. He looked so happy. The sprite nudged me towards everyone and I just tensed up.
"Yep. This is my son, Roman." The toddler looked up up my father and I smiled. So... That's me then. "Where's your..."
"Hey dad, I..." I froze seeing Virgil show up with Deceit and he looked about ready to faint. "Nevermind it can wait. You just..."
"Don't even think about it, Virgil. You know he'll just drag you back." Deceit laughed as he pushed Virgil closer to the group.
"N-No... please..." Virgil tried to struggle against Deceit and I tensed up again. I just can't seem to be able to see him upset in any way. Deceit stopped pushing him and Virgil just stood there frozen as My father held his hand out towards him.
"It's a pleasure to finally meet with you, Virgil. I've heard a lot about you." Virgil's eyes went wide as he looked over at Patton who was nodding. His face went white and I could see he wanted to run. "Don't worry. I'm not the kind of person the judges based on incorrect recounts of misinformation. I like to learn the type of people you are from actually interacting with you. If you'd let me."
"Uh... well... sure? I guess. I don't..." I narrowed my eyes seeing the smaller me start to wander off and I frowned. I was what 2...3...
You were 1, Roman. I looked back at the sprite and they frowned. And you just wandered off.
"Roman?" I looked back to see my father searching about, worry growing on his face. Patton's face started to white and even Virgil seemed to get a little worried. None of them saw me leave. "ROMAN?!"
"He's only one. I'm sure he couldn't get far. He was just here." Deceit called as they all started to look farther down the hall. I narrowed my eyes in confusion and sprite sighed.
Follow them, Roman. When I finally caught up to them I was frozen in shock. Father had the smaller me in his arms as he just stood there terrified. Baby Roman was in very bad shape. I... I was bruised and bleeding, hardly if at all. It looked like someone tried to kill me but...
"He's still alive, Thomas." Patton said as he checked for a pulse. "But it's not good. He's so small... He won't make it."
"Who would do this to him?" Father had tears in his eyes and he wouldn't look away. I could see everyone just... I don't know how to explain it. How would you look if you were watching a baby die? The thing is... I'm not dead. "It was those elves again. Wasn't it?"
