"JUST SHUT UP DECEIT!" I jumped up with a start to see I was in Deceit's bedroom. Was all that just a dream? I looked over to see Virgil just standing there and Deceit glanced back, his eyes widening when he spotted me. He pointed up at his eyes and I looked around spotting myself in the mirror. My eyes were glowing gold again. Shit...
Maybe it wasn't a dream after all.
I started freaking out instantly. No matter how many times I blinked the gold just wouldn't go away. So I did what every INSANE person would do and I raid the shit out of Deceits stuff. Needless to say, the noise scared Virgil. He spun around so fast I tensed up, making sure there was no way he could see my eyes.
"Roman..." He had this big smile on his face seeing I was up but it slowly melted away to confusion. "What are you doing?"
"Massive headache." I hated lying to him. It hurt. The frown he had hearing how raspy my voice was enough to make anyone cry. "The lights are bothering me." Deceit's eyes went wide as I practically glared at him through the mirror.
"Third drawer on the left." I nodded opening the drawer and finding it all the way in the back. I smiled putting on the sunglasses and frowned at my reflection. "Be careful with them please, Roman." I turned to see him looking away and I narrowed my eyes. "They were a friend's... from a long time ago." Virgil slowly made his way over and started to look me up and down. I just pushed his hands away lightly and he shot me this look of confusion.
"I'm ok, Virgil. I will not be going back into that moon pool again that's for sure. At least not anytime soon." I started to laugh and they just shot each other confused looks, which of course only made me concerned. "What?"
"How did you know that room was..." My face fell fast and I wasted no time in cutting him off.
"Logan wanted to talk to me right? Before we left yes? Why don't we see what that's about?" I started for the door when Deceit grabbed my arm stopping me from moving.
"We need to talk." My eyes darkened and I nodded as I pushed myself free and through the door leaving them behind. I walked down the hall aimlessly noticing real fast they didn't follow. Great. I'm a total stranger here. How the hell am I supposed to know where to go?
Use your magic. I stopped short hearing the echo of that familiar high pitched sprite voice reverberating off the walls. I looked around me but couldn't see a thing. I'm not actually there silly.
"Then how..." I groaned at myself. This was completely ridiculous. I feel like I'm going crazy.
Roman, you are a royal treasure. Endowed with magic... You just have to learn how to use it. I narrowed my eyes and just shook my head. Learn how to use magic? I am a human. We don't possess magic. No. You are not human anymore. And your friend will be in the same boat if he keeps down this path. So you need to get a handle on things because he is going to need someone to protect him.
"What are you talking about?" I asked but they didn't respond. I was getting frustrated. What did he mean my friend will be in the same boat? I just ran a hand through my hair and sighed. The sigh slowly turned to a loud groan as I let my hand drop forcefully to my side. "I am talking to a voice in my head... from a damn dream... or whatever."
I started walking again but like before I had no idea where I was going. I didn't feel like turning around though. I didn't want to risk anything. If Virgil found out my eyes were gold he'll start asking questions. God forbid he finds out there were side effects to whatever he did.
I passed this door and I froze feeling this intense pull. I narrowed my eyes and looked over at it confused. Walking over to it I could feel the pull get stronger and I frowned. There was a tech lock. This static feeling buzzed around my hand and held it up to see my fingers sparking with bolts of electricity. The lock made this sound and looked down to see the light green and I took a deep breath pushing through.
I was in awe the moment I passed that door. I was in this garden. This beautiful garden... Sprites flew through the air caring and tending to flowers and trees alike. It looked like one of those fantasy or alien worlds. It was absolutely breathtaking. As I walked down the path following the pull, I let my finger brush against the falling branches of the weeping cherry blossoms and smiled at the rush of energy that filled the air like its own special melody.
I ended up following the feeling until I made it to a clearing and I smiled seeing a man bent over a bunch of saplings. I didn't want to interrupt so I just stood there waiting as he tended to them. He had this soft smile on his face as if just being in there made him happy. I looked away and frowned. I wonder if it has something to do with Patton?
"Roman? How did you... Nevermind, that is unimportant." I tensed up, looking back to see that smile gone now and I frowned. "You're up. I assume this means your feeling well?" I watched as he started to take his gardening gloves off and I just sighed.
"A bit yes. I'm sorry for causing you any trouble." He seemed to freeze for a second before looking back at me confused.
"Do not apologize for being ill." I just narrowed my eyes as he started putting things away. "Things that are out of our ability to control are not worth feeling guilty about. There was no way for you to change what happened. At least... That's what Patton would say." He spun around with this stern but caring expression and I looked away. Patton... I couldn't help but feel guilty about him. "Let us go walk the grounds." He placed a hand gingerly on my arm and started to lead me off down this path. "We have much to discuss."
