Leilani's mom drove me to my house so I could get changed. I still had my black jeep. I could drive myself to the hospital. I thought about it for awhile. I knew she wanted me to go with her, but I needed time. Time to think. I wanted alone time with Leilani. I didn't want to see anyone else. Just her. Leilani's mom seemed to know what I was thinking.
"If you need alone time with Leilani, I leave at night, and it would be nice to know someone she loves is looking out for her." Leilani's mom said with a smile.
I smiled back at her and shook my head in agreement. I would go see Leilani tonight. Leilani's mom dropped me off and waved goodbye as she pulled out of my driveway.
I walked inside my house. Empty. I didn't know what to expect. Leilani to mysteriously jump out of no where? She's in the hospital, Parker. I had to tell myself.
I went up to my room and decided to take a shower. I had no idea the last time I got a shower. But all I knew, is I needed one. To relax me. To calm me.
The water was burning hot on my skin. The heat turned into steam. I sat there taking it all in. The news, the pain, the heat of the shower, Leilani. Everything.
I stood in the shower for awhile. I needed this. The water dripped off my body as I turned off the water. I grabbed my towel and saw something.
I dryed myself off and walked closer to see what it was. Then I realized, it was Leilani's ring. The one I bought her.
I picked it up and held everything in. I would see her tonight. Everything is going to be okay. I told myself.
I smiled as it shimmered in the light. Was this a sign? Probably not. But I'll take it for what it's worth.
I went back in my room and everything hit me at once. The ring, her scent that lingered in the room. I breathed in and out. I needed to calm myself before I fell apart.
I grabbed one of my Adidas Graphic Hoodies and some grey joggers. I needed a nap. I needed to forget.
My hair kept falling in my face, so I put it in a man bun. Leilani would of made fun of me if she was here.
Only if she was. That should've been me in the coma. She shouldn't be in that coma. She should be living her life.
I drifted off.
"Parker?" Leilani asked me.
I saw her. I smiled and grabbed her from behind. She jumped a little, in shock, and grabbed me. I smiled and layed her down on the chair.
We both were laughing and teasing each other. Eventually, we fell asleep. Together. How we always are. How we should be. Right now.I woke up to my alarm. I checked the clock and it was already ten.
"Ugh." I sighed.
I needed to get to the hospital. But was I ready? Was I really ready to face Leilani lifeless?
I knew it didnt matter. She needed me. Leilani only have five days left to respond.
I hopped in my black jeep and put the key in the ignition. Breath in. Breath out.
"This is going to hurt." I whispered to myself under my breath.
"Yeah, it is." A familiar voice said as he held something up to my head.
I looked in the mirror. That's when it hit me. Justin.
It was justin and he was holding a gun to my head.
"Drive!" He yelled at me.
"Where exactly?" I asked him.
"To the woods. Easy clean up." Justin said with a sinister smile.
I sighed. "Your really dumb. You know that?" I asked him.
He looked at me and shoved the gun in my neck.
"I'm dumb? I'm the one with the gun, and I won't hesitate. Don't test me." Justin said as he kept moving the gun everywhere.
I noticed the gun was on safety. Was I a little scared? Yeah, maybe. But I wasn't about to show him that. I'm tired of being tested latley.
Breath in. Breath out. I smiled at him, which caught him off guard.
Justin came closer with his finger on the trigger. Did he know it was on safety? Oh well.
Once he got his face close enough, I brought my shoulder back and hit him in the face. While he was off guard, I grabbed the gun off him.
Now I was in control.
"Don't move or that's it for you." I told him calmly.
Justin was confused. He didn't know what was going on until he looked up at me. He froze as soon as he saw the gun.
I saw his hand slowly move towards the door. Steadily, I locked the doors and I knew child security was on from a prank awhile ago.
"Now." I said to Justin. "You get to go to jail for your crimes." I said to him.
Justin looked worried. Then, he started begging. He started begging for me to let him go, but I wasn't that gullible. I wasn't going to. There was no way. Ever.
I called the police and quickly, they were at my house.
"We're sorry no one informed you about him escaping." One police officer said.
"It's fine. Just put him in jail and keep him there." I said to both of the officers.
They shook their heads in agreement and left with Justin in cuffs.
Finally, I don't ever have to hear Justin's name again.
I smiled and sighed in relief. Time to finally go see Leilani. I smiled at the thought of seeing her.
I drove all the way to the hospital. When I was sleeping, Leilani's mom messaged me the room number Leilani was staying in.
I followed the directions of the signs and finally reached Leilani's room. Room 208. Second floor.
I took at least ten deep breaths. She would look bad, and I knew that. I just hoped she didn't feel any worse.
I opened the door. There she was.
Laying there. Just lifeless. I looked at the monitor and everything was average. Her oxygen levels, her heart rate. Perfect.
I went over to her. There was a chair sitting right next to her bed facing Leilani. She was also facing the chair.
I went over to the chair, and sat down. Even bruised up, Leilani was still perfect.
"Leilani." I whispered as I moved a loose piece hair behind her ear.
"Please. We promised not to leave each other." I whispered trying to get anything.
I couldn't get anything. It was painful being there. The only thing I could do was talk to her and pray she was listening.
I talked to Leilani the whole time I was there.
I grabbed her hand and kissed her on the forehead as I stood up.
"I gotta go babe. I'll be back as soon as possible." I whispered in her ear.
As soon as I was about to let go of her hand, I felt a subtle squeeze. I freaked. I looked back at her hand.
"Leilani, if you can hear me, squeeze my hand again." I said confused.
I waited a moment, and I felt another squeeze. As I was looking down at our hands, he hand was twitching. Leilani wanted to wake up. She was trying to.
I smiled at her hand. "I'm never leaving." I whispered as I squeezed her hand back.
I paged a doctor, and as I waited, I stayed in the chair. Holding of Leilani's hand. Not letting go. Not for anyone or anything.
