I lifted my head off of Leilani's chest. I grabbed her hand and just started talking to her.
"Leilani. I miss you here. I need you here. Please." I begged. She probably couldn't hear me but I still kept talking.
"I remember everything we did. How we always spent our time together. I still wanna go that with you. I'm not ready Leilani. I'm not ready. I just got you. I can't lose you now. Your mom's gonna miss you. I'm gonna miss you Leilani." I whispered trying to keep everything together.
I kept trying and trying, but nothing. I got up and started walking around. What would I do if Leilani was really gone? What would I do?
I knew I wouldn't be fine. I needed her more than I would of ever thought.
Suddenly, I heard a beep. It was her heart monitor. A straight line was starting to appear. Her heart stopped beating. She was flatlining.
I ran up to the door and unlocked it. I yelled for the doctors.
I ran down the hallway and tried to get help.
"She's flatlining. Help. Please help!" I yelled with everything in me.
The doctors ran to the room. I looked and went to go follow them.
One of the nurses pushed me back and told me I couldn't go back. I had to wait.
"I'm sick and tired of waiting! That's all I do!" I yelled at her.
"Sir. You're going have to leave if you keep yelling." She said to me in a calm matter.
I couldn't stop yelling. Leilani was flat lining. I needed to hit something. I needed her to be here.
I fell to the ground. Everything was breaking. My heart. She was my everything and there she was. She was falling apart and I couldn't do anything about it. I put my knees to my face. And my hands on my head.
It was the worst feeling in the world. I couldn't do anything. I was useless.
I had to wait. That's all I could do. I couldn't do anything else.
The nurse sat on the ground with me and tried to comfort me. It wasn't working. I needed to see Leilani.
I got up and walked over to the chairs. I sat there and waited. All I did was wait for the next hour.
Finally, the nurse walked out. I stood up and she looked down.
"She awake, but she's not going to make it. She has 5 minutes at the maximum." She said.
I looked at her and ran. I ran to Leilani's room and all the doctors look at me as I entered the room. I ran to the bedside of Leilani. She looked up at me and tried to smile.
"We'll give you a minute." The doctors said as they walked out.
I grabbed Leilani's hand and went on my knees so I was level with her face.
"Hey. I don't have much time." Leilani said to me as I looked at her. She was tearing up as she was talking to me.
"Thank you Parker. For teaching me how to trust." She whispered trying to say conscious.
I could feel my face turn red and tears fall down my face.
"I love you Leilani." I whispered.
"I love you too Parker." She whispered back.
I stood up and kissed Leilani. And sat back down. She smiled at me and I smiled back trying to hold everything in.
Then came the beeping sound. I looked up and Leilani's eyes were closed.
She was dead. Leilani died.
