The doctors ran into the room as quick as I paged them. I showed then Leilani grabbing my hand.
They looked at me and smiled.
"You're the only one that could get her to react to anything." The one female doctor told me.
Soon they started taking Leilani off the monitor. They had to wait, because Leilani's mom wanted to be there. There always was that small chance Leilani wouldn't wake up. I knew as her mom, it was hard to take that chance. But that's the only chance we have.
As her boyfriend, it hard. I can't imagine what her mom's going through.
Finally, Leilani's mom arrived. It was scary to see her. Her face was in horror. All she was think about is "What if my daughter dosen't wake up?"
I knew it was scary for her. But we had too, or we would lose her forever. Slowly, the doctors started taking her off the machines.
Everything was still good. Her blood pressure, oxygen levels, and heart beat. They were all perfect, and that was never a problem. The problem was that she might not wake up. She had to wake up, or she would die.
I held Leilani's hand the whole way through everything. I started thinking of all the good memories we had.
                  -- Flashback --
I saw Leilani in the sunlight. It was the first day of school. Once I first saw her in the office that day, I knew she was different. The way she sat there. Everything. Everything was perfect. She was perfect.
I walked her to her class. She was tense and nervous. It was easy to tell. But, so was I. Just a little though. I needed to get out of the building, and I hoped she would come with me. Thankfully, she did.
I drove her to the beach and we walked along the sand. The way the sunlight hit her skin. They way she swayed as she walked. Everything.
She started dancing and swaying. Leilani was full of life.

At the beach is where she belonged

At the beach is where she belonged. With me is where she belongs.
                -- Flashback ended --
I miss her. So much.
I looked around the room to see what was happening. The doctors were all around Leilani.
"Wake up" I whispered as I kept watching.
The one doctor came up to me and ordered me out of the room. All I wanted was to be with Leilani, but since I was immediate family, I couldn't.
I followed the doctors orders and watched from the window. The doctors started to panic.
It was easy to tell. They were frantic. I started to get nervous and panic. I started to walk up and down the hallway.
"Leilani, you need to wake up. You can't leave me like this." I whispered as I kept pacing.
As time went on, more doctors came in and out of the room. I needed to know what was going on, but everytime I asked them, they just gave me short responses.
"We're doing everything we can." On said.
"We're trying sir." Another one said.
Never once did they awnser my question.
"Is she going to make it?" I asked one of them.
"It's too soon to tell." She awnsered me back.
I sighed. I wanted to hit something. I needed to know. What was going to happen?
Finally, Leilani's mom came out. She was visibly upset. I needed to know.
I looked at her waiting for her to talk, but she never did. She just grabbed me and started crying on my chest.
I guess she didn't need to say anything. That was enough to know.
The doctors didn't think Leilani would make it.
"They're doing everything they can, but now it's up to Leilani. She has to want to wake up." Leilani's mom said as she continued to cry on me.
I wrapped me hand around her and tried to comfort her. Finally, the doctors said I could go in and see her one last time.
I needed to do this alone. I didn't want anyone else there.
Leilani's mom left for the night. The doctors were going to take Leilani off the machine that was keeping her here tomorrow.
They told us to say our final goodbyes. None of them thought Leilani was going to make it.
I walked in the room and shut the curtains. I locked the door behind me too.
I walked over to Leilani's side and took her hand. I got on my knees and put my head on her chest.
There, I stayed for awhile thinking of everything Leilani gave me. She gave me life.
