Aden

I ENTERED my room to find Rebecca sitting at the coffee table.

"Nice to see you here," I said as I sat down across from her. "Do you need something?" She had a worried expression written all over her face.

"Kiara's not being cooperative. She believes she is the missing princess, but she does not believe in the prophecy." Rebecca sighed, "She has no idea what she's up against."

I stood up and paced back and forth, walking on the well-worn out path in the carpet. "Did she have a dream last night?"

She sighed again and nodded. "I take it you had the same dream?" I nodded, and she continued. "Maybe we could try to get you two in the same room together. She doesn't seem to trust me that much, or anyone for that matter."

I drew a flicker of orange flame to my fingertips, and messed around with it. Unlike my parents, I had been born with magic, which had mainly produced as fire. I can still do all the other elements, but fire is my strongest ability. I'm guessing Kiara's is, too.

"I think that would probably be a good idea." The flame vanished. "Time?"

"I was thinking around this time, when I'm in class with Kiara." Rebecca looked down at the hands in her lap. "I don't think she'll be coming tomorrow. Aden, we haven't even had our first lesson."

I don't really know what it's like to have a sister, but Kiara? She's on a whole different level. I've been so busy attending meetings, that I haven't even had time to spend time with the sister I haven't seen until now.

I mean, what do I even call her? Aldi, the name she's grown up with? Or Kiara, the name she was born with? So many questions raced through my mind as I thought of the sister I haven't even officially met yet. She hasn't even been officially crowned the Princess of Highmourn yet. Whereas I had been named Crown Prince when I was sixteen. I'm not even technically the Crown Prince, since Kiara was born before me.

"Aden?" Rebecca said, interrupting me from my thoughts. "We need to find a solution for this." My skin heated up as my frustration grew.

"I'll see her first thing in the morning, or at least try to."

As my skin heated back down, the worried expression vanished from her face, and changed into a stern look. "You better." With that, she left the room, leaving me to my thoughts.

I went into my bedroom and laid down on the bed.

I opened my eyes to find myself in a completely different room. I couldn't control any of my movements, and it was like I was in a completely different body, looking through someone else's eyes.

Those eyes were looking at things laid out on the bed in front of him. A butter knife, gold coins, and some old looking books. The hands, which happened to belong to a woman, stashed all of the items in different areas of the room. I tried to see exactly where she had stashed the items, but I could only see what she was seeing. Finally, she went back to her bed, curled up into the blankets and fell asleep.

I jolted out of bed, self consciously checking the areas where the items had been stashed, but I couldn't see anything because I wasn't in the same room. What the heck was that?

I shook off the weird dream and tried to go back to sleep.
