Chapter 26

Kiara

"YOU SURE have a way with words, Marcus," Aden said.

Marcus looked as though he was grimacing and replied, "As you can see, My Prince, it's one of my many specialties..."

My eyes snapped open. Cold water streamed down my face as I realized how long I must have been in the shower. The last thing I could remember, though, was walking into the bathing room.

Calvin was waiting for me when I got out, still sitting at the dining table.

"Shouldn't you be asleep right now, Calvin?"

He looked up from where he had his head resting in his hands. "Sorry, I'm just too busy thinking about how my childhood friend is now a dragon hybrid. Oh, and also she's the missing Princess Kiara."

"Very funny." I glared at him and unwrapped the towel that was holding my hair up. Slowly, I started twirling the towel. Calvin, knowing what I was about to do, started backing away.

"No, Aldi. Don't do it." He bumped into the counter.

I stalked up to him, still twirling the towel.

"Al-"

Snap!

"Dang it, Aldi!" He rubbed against the red welt that was starting to form on his bicep. I fell down to the ground in laughter. Calvin soon joined in.

"Remember when you used to do that to me when we were kids?" I asked.

He smiled in a nostalgic way. "You always galloped away like a horse. That is, until you started 'doing it' to me."

I chuckled, "I couldn't even twist the towel properly. I ended up hitting myself most of the time."

At that, we both smiled at each other and layed on the ground.

After a moment of silence, Calvin asked, "Aldi, will things ever be the same now?"

"Calvin, I'm still the same girl I was two months ago, albeit, a bit older."

"But am I ever going to see you again after all of this happens?"

I shook my head, "I don't know Calvin, I really don't, but I can see that there will be losses. I just don't know what kind."

Slowly, he stood up. "I'm going to bed now. See you in the morning?" Not waiting for a reply, he walked away into his bedroom.

I, too, got up and tried to go in my bed to sleep, but I just couldn't. Too many thoughts ran through my head.

The tiara- which was still in my duffel that I left by the door -was still a mystery to me. What type of crown produces electric shocks like that? Was it the minerals or gems? Was some type of curse put on it?

"Maybe that's why Rebecca didn't want me to touch it," I mused to myself. Either she was the one who magicked it, or she was protecting me from someone who magicked it.

There's also the fact that Draco still wants me back. Going to the lengths of marking his own son with his initials. Does he know I have the tiara with me? Or is he really just desperate enough to get his favorite prodegy back?

I groaned in frustration, and plopped down onto my pillow.

Kiara?

I jolted up, How much of that did you hear?

None of it, I just finally reached you.How do you manage to access my head? I'm straining myself right now, just to speak with you.

He was telling the truth. Maybe I'm just more talented than you.

I grinned, not that he could see. Anyway, what did you want?

Oh, um, you know, I really don't know.

Pretty mu- Oh! Now I remember what I was going to ask you. He paused for a second.

Maybe you should see if Rebecca is freaking out right now.
