"CONCENTRATE, KIARA," Rebecca said, leaning over my shoulder. Sweat dripped down the back of my neck. "I only need you to make a ripple."

So much for having this supposed magic. I swear the bowl of water was mocking me. I glared at it, focusing most of my frustration towards Aden, who sat across from me, looking like he was going to burst out laughing.

"What's so funny?" I was starting to regret inviting him here.

He just grinned and pulled the bowl towards him. As soon as the water calmed, he raised his hand towards it, and a small droplet of water rose towards his palm. I stared at the droplet, jealous because I couldn't even make the water move.

Then an idea came to mind. Before I forgot about it, I asked Rebecca, "What happened to the tiara?" The droplet splashed into the bowl.

"It was in the Throne Room last I checked," she replied. "Why do you ask?"

Of course it was in the bloody Throne Room. I haven't been in there since I found out the truth of who I really was.

Trying to act natural, I asked, "Would it be okay if I saw it?"

"Well, I gue-"

"Kiara," Aden interrupted. "we haven't forgotten who you are." He tilted his head at Rebecca, "At least I haven't."

"But that's not what I mean." I knew he was talking about being the Ghost. I didn't want to tell him the real reason I wanted it, so I mumbled, "Nevermind." I turned back to the task at hand, but the bowl was void of any water.

Instead, all of the water was floating around my head, in a hazy mist.

Rebecca clapped excitedly, "Good job, Kiara!"

Dumbfounded, I just shook my head. When I moved, all of the water splashed onto my head, soaking my hair. I let out an audible groan.

"You'll get it next time," Aden said, completely forgetting the argument from earlier. "I did bad on my first try, too."

I would do better if I knew how to control it. All of the magic I've seen come from myself has been completely mysterious to me. I have no idea how I actually accomplished any of it.

"Okay, Kiara, I guess that wraps up our lesson." Rebecca stood up from the table and dusted off her skirt. "No lessons tomorrow, due to meetings. Aden will walk you out now." I ignored the offered hand from Aden, and walked out of the room myself.

I only went a couple steps before I heard his voice behind me, "Kiara, wait." -I feel I was getting used to that name- "I need to tell-" Everything went black, and Aden's footsteps had gone silent.
