JUST LIKE that, and I wasn't the princess they expected of me.

Before I could say anything to Rebecca, she said, "Before we go anywhere boring, I want to show you someplace special."

She dragged me down a couple of hallways until we came to a set of glass doors.

"If you are the type of person I think you are, then you'll love this." She opened the doors.

It was beautiful. That was the only word to describe it. A brick walkway led into the garden. Colorful maple trees lined the walkway. Flowers of every variety scattered throughout. In the middle, a fountain of marble. Water flowing from the top into the flower shaped bowl.

I didn't realize I walked forward until I hit the base of the fountain. I looked down at my reflection and gasped. my face had become more pronounced, the raven hair had changed to a tinted green, the rounded ears had changed to points. The most obvious change were my eyes. The green, cat-like eyes that stared at back at me, were not my own.

"Whatcha looking at?" Rebecca came up behind.

I shook my head, "Nothing. I'm fine." I took a glance back at the water, but my reflection remained the same. "Whose garden is this anyway?"

"It's your mother's. She used to always come down here when Aden and I were little." She sighed. "Probably because we caused a lot of headaches."

"I take it you and Aden were close."

Rebecca nodded, "We still are. We've known each other for a long time." She looked down at her feet. "I never knew my parents, Sarah and Jacob Highmourn raised me as one of their own."

"I'm sorry, I didn't know."

"It's perfectly fine. I can't feel bad for someone I never knew." She spread out her arms. "Hey, look around. You never knew your parents, and now you're finally getting a chance to meet them." Rebecca sat down on the edge of the fountain and gestured for me to sit next to her.

"Rebecca, look at my reflection and the me what you see," I said, looking at my own distorted reflection. I could've sworn she gasped when she actually looked, meaning I wasn't the only one who saw it.

"I see a beautiful young princess, who needs to get going or we'll never explore the entire castle." She grabbed my arm and dragged me out.

~~~
After we had explored almost every inch of the castle, I was thinking it'd be a good time to take a nap, but Rebecca had other plans. Those other plans would be taking me down a long, endless hallway.
"Don't worry, we'll be there soon," Rebecca said. "I don't know why they had to build this place so far away." The floor was sloping downward, and the hallway had started to get damp, so it seemed we were going underground.
We soon hit a dead end, but with my experience, I knew that the wall had a hidden door.
"It's getting late, shouldn't we be heading back for dinner?" She gave me a look that said not to question her further.
"Did you look at the schedule at all? I'm showing you to your last class." I took the parchment out of my pocket. Sure enough Rebecca's class was last on the list.
"Magic?" When I think of magic, I think of a guy in a tux with a top hat, cape, and magic wand.
As if reading my thoughts, she stated, "Erase whatever thoughts that just crossed your mind. Yes, magic." She walked up to the wall, feeling around the stones. When she found the stone she was looking for, she took out a knife and sliced it across her palm. With no idea why she was doing it, I stayed quiet.
She pressed her hand onto the stone she had found, and dissolved into the wall. I yelped in shock, and reached for a knife I didn't have.
"Well, are you coming in or not?" Rebecca's voice came from behind the wall.
"What the bloody hell did you just do?" This was definitely an illusion of some sort. I put my hand on the wall, but all I felt was solid stone. I searched for the stone that Rebecca had put her hand on, but all I found was a hole.
"Put your fist in the hole, and then walk through. If you decide to run, I will catch up to you."
Not wanting to risk running down the long hallway, I did what she told me to do. When I put my fist in the hole, and a hand grabbed me and dragged me through the wall.
The room I entered was some sort of a cavern. It looked like someone had took a bomb and made it explode. A fireplace was lit at the far end of the room, and carpets covered the entirety of the floor. To my right, sat a bookcase with many titles I didn't understand. To my left, was a small wooden table and two chairs. Rebecca stood in the middle of the room.
"This is the classroom. I will be teaching you-"
"How did you do that?"
"That little thing?" She scoffed. "You'll get the hang of that by the end of the week."
"What about you hand?"
She smiled and showed me her palm. Not a scratch marred her hand, like nothing had happened.
With my jaw dropped to the floor, she took my arm and led me out of the room, walking through the wall once more.
