Aldi
I MADE my way to the training hall, following the directions of a servant. Even though Rebecca had showed me the castle, I was still confused as to where to go. I opened to the doors to find Aden sparring up against, what I would presume, a Lord. Their movements were both graceful and deadly, as their swords clashed together. Like dancers performing for an audience.
I coughed to get their attention. They stopped with deadly precision, both of the swords gleaming in the afternoon light from the windows.
"Kiara, nice of you to join us," Aden said, sheathing his sword.
"Well, it was kind of on my schedule." I pulled it out of my pocket. "Marcus Kalliarkos?" Of course he had a son. Probably the spitting image of him.
The lord who had been sparring with Aden raised his hand. "I am he. If only my father had told me that I was going to be training you." When looking at him head-on, I could see the similarities between him, his mother, and Jared. The slimness and strong cheekbones of his father, and the piercing blue eyes of his mother. There was also something vaguely familiar about him, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"You done staring?" My cheeks flamed up, and I looked down, once more embarrassed.
"Um, hi." I cringed as the words came out of my mouth. Really Aldi? After all that, that's what you had to say?
"You know, I'd love to stay and chat, but I've got meetings to attend." Aden put his sword up, and mouthed in my direction, "Good luck."
"Well you seem a little different from when I first met you." I stared at him blankly, not comprehending what he just said. He grinned at my expression, and put a hand to his chest in mock offense, "Why, how could you forget such a beautiful face such as mine?" My blank stare turned into a glare.
"Anyway, let's get to the basics." He went to the sword rack, and pulled two wooden sticks off. "I assume you know how to use a sword?" He tossed one of the sticks at me, and I caught it by the handle. Being a thief has kept my instincts quick.
"No, I just protected myself with a pencil all these years," I say sarcastically. He answered by whacking me on the arm. "Ow!" I rubbed the red mark that had starting forming on my forearm.
"Maybe you really did use a pencil all these years." He spins the sword around, easily catching it by the grip.
The next time the sword spins, I go for a side cut. My sword flies out of my hand, landing under the sword rack.
"Come on girly, I thought you could handle a sword." He still continues to spin the sword, with a grin that doesn't quite meet his ears. I went over to pick up the sword, keeping my eyes on Marcus.
And that's when it hit me. Marcus did not get anything from his father's side because Jared Kalliarkos is not his father, Draco Legace is.
I dropped my sword and raised my hands in mock defeat, "I think I'm done for today." Now that I've found out, I can't stop seeing all of the similarities between him and Calvin. They're about the same age. Would that make them twins like Aden and I?
"Tomorrow, you're running laps," he hangs up the sword. "You're lucky I'm in a good mood today. Now hurry up and change out of those nasty clothes."
