Have I ever mentioned Steven?
I think not.
Oh well, here it goes:
Steven Lee became my seat mate for the second and third quarter (we got moved around every quarter). And as all friendships and setups go, it was awkward at first.
He was tall, and stout, his skin fair with pinkish spots scattered on his arm. His hair was supposedly black, but due to premature greying in his genes, it was now a fifty-fifty or white and black-which was the reason I started calling him "Panda".
He was the type of person you can't help but talk to and be close with. He was incredibly funny, brutally frank, witty, and he always had food.
I mean, who wouldn't want to be friends with a big, fat, friendly, warm, crazy Panda, that always has food to share with you?
We grew close, after about a week or two, and only then did I notice how loved he was by the class.
He'd receive numerous hugs a day from almost everyone in our batch, and it was considered normal, I started hugging him too, malice aside, just like how you'd hug a pet or a stuffed animal.
Since I've always been close with guys, it was nothing new to people, so they let me have my group of guy friends.

I may have mentioned Steven once to Jaz, he acted nonchalant, but his face was in a mask of disgust, maybe even jealousy.
Ha, jealousy.
I wonder how it must feel like, whoring around while your girl watches, then you find out she has a friend she's getting close to (it wasn't anything more than that).
Not wanting to start fights, I don't mention Steven to Jaz, and try to distance myself from Steven, which was frankly impossible since he was seated right beside me.
And to my delight, we were placed again in the same seating arrangement up to this quarter (the third), what with my increasing annoyance with Jaz, Steven was a way of annoying him without having to directly do anything.

Near the end of the third quarter, was our second monthsary, and fortunately, November 27th was on a Wednesday, so there was school, and we could spend the day together or something.
I went to school excited to see him, waiting for a greeting, but none came.
Our snack break came and went, still no greeting.
For our lunch break, I didn't even bother, and went to the music room instead.
Students weren't really allowed in there without a teacher, but my friend Ponch could pick the door lock, and so we hang there anyways.
As Ponch opened it, Annika followed, and we spent half of the break time just laughing and chatting, as I practiced playing the piano.
The door suddenly opened in the middle of me telling Annika how Jaz forgot our monthsary, in came Jaz, along with Kobe and Louis.
"Speaking of..." Annika began, then grimaced.
I just smiled and rolled my eyes at the guys' general direction, just as Jaz grabbed my hand and started bugging me.
Annika sat down, and I followed suit, Jaz sat to my left, as Annika was on my right.
We conversed, our break nearly ending, and still no greeting.
Damn this.
I walked out, slamming the door behind me, just as I heard Annika ask Jaz.
"Jaz, what date is it today again?" She coyly inquired.
"Twenty-seven," he matter-of-factly answered.
Annika stared at him probingly, and I continued to listen in.
"Oh. Shit!" He ran out the door, looking for me, I ran back to the music room, high-fived my best friend, and waited for Jaz to find me as Kobe laughed.
Jaz returned after a minute or two, and he crushed me in a bear hug.
"Ow, can't breathe." I squeaked, and he released me.
"I'm soo sorry, happy monthsary! I'm sorry, I forgot."
I forgave him, of course, and we sat again, Annika and him on either side of me.
"How could you forget your monthsary? How long did it take for you to court her anyway?" Annika asked, completely straightforward.
"I don't know, an hour?" Jaz answered proudly.
Ugh. This is soooo humiliating.
If only Annika knew that he didn't actually ask me out properly, she'd beat the living shit outta him.
"An hour?" She exclaimed in bewilderment.
"About that long," Jaz smiled.
I kept quiet for the duration of the exchange, I stood up, and before reaching the door, Jaz caught up to me, and kissed me.
Nothing special, just the generic cheek kiss everyone gets from old people and family members.
Bummer.
I returned to our classroom, just as Ms. Inigo, my favorite teacher, entered the room.
