Chapter 3: Mad Woman

(Tessa's POV)

      After the assembly, we were given our schedules. I was happy when I found out I had first period with Tailah. She on the other hand wasn't too happy to know that she had math and chemistry first. She preferred literature, history, drama, and gym. Something was different about her today. She kept zoning out while I was talking to her. I've never seen her look this happy and excited. Especially not for school.

    The bell just rang for lunch and I took my bag and books. I decided to stop at my locker to put them away. I saw Tailah walking towards me. She was blushing (ish) since her skin was pretty tan it was hard to see but I could still see it. I was about to say something to her when she turned around. I looked in the same direction as her and saw Ethan, Tyler and Jaden walking. I looked at Tyler for a moment. He pushed his hair back and was smiling. I found myself lost in him. His eyes met mine and I instantly looked away. I shifted my attention to Jaden. He was looking my way but his eyes were not on me. He was looking at Tailah and she was looking at him. He was looking at her longingly. I was confused now. Did I miss something? His eyes shifted to me and he automatically started blushing. I gave him a small smirk and then tapped on her shoulder. She turned around and I raised an eyebrow and smirked at her and her cheek slightly turned red. 

 "What's going on between you and Jaden?" I teased

"Nothing really, we just talked."

"What are you gonna do about Liam?"

"Oh that piece of shit is out of my life"

I looked at her dumbstruck. I knew that things between her and Liam had been on a rocky path for a while but I didn't know it was that bad. She pulled out her phone and showed me a video. I didn't recognize the room at first, but then I realized it was Liam's room. He was getting blown by a girl. Tailah fasted forward and now the girl was riding him and screaming and he threw his head back. I put my hand on my mouth and looked away. The video ended and I looked at her. I could literally see the hate on her face.

"When did you get this?"

"During third period"

"I'm sorry Tai, are you ok?"

"Yea, you know things haven't been good between us. I wanted a way out and now I got it."

I was happy that they were finally over. I always had a bad feeling about him. I'm just glad she didn't get hurt. We closed our lockers and went to lunch.

       After getting our lunch, we started looking for an empty table. From across the cafeteria, I spotted one. I was about to tell Tailah when I noticed who was sitting right next to it. Tyler and his group of friends were sitting there. Tyler and his group of friends were sitting there laughing, some throwing fries at each other and some were just telling stories. My gaze shifted to him.  His back was facing me and his head was low, covered by his hood. He was about to turn around when I heard Tailah calling me.

"Tessa did you hear me?"

"Sorry what?"

"I said let's go sit over there." she said, pointing at the table that I had my eyes on. I nodded and we walked to it. As we got closer to them, I couldn't help but feel my heart racing. We sat down and began eating. From where I sat, I had a clear view of his face. I made sure to keep my eyes on my food to not get caught staring, but every time Tailah would start talking I would look at her and my eyes kept darting towards him.

     I went to drop something in the garbage can and as I was walking back, I noticed two guys sitting at our table. As I walked closer, I noticed it was Tyler and Jaden. Jaden was sitting very close to Tailah and she was looking at him with what looked like adoration in her eyes. She looked like a sixteen year old meeting Justin Bieber. I smiled slightly. They looked so lost in each other. I saw a hand wave in front of my face. That's when I realized I'd zoned out.

"I'm sorry, did you say something?"

"Yea, I said about this morning, I didn't get the chance to introduce myself, I'm Tyler Rayden." He said smiling.

"Ummm... Tessa Lightman." I said smiling back at him.

"So, how was your summer?"

"It was really good. I had a lot of fun but it was also very tiring."

"What did you do?"

"Well I went to Italy with my mom and my brother for like two weeks. Then I went to boot camp for the remaining of the summer."

"I really like Italy. It's a beautiful country."

"It really is." A few minutes goes by before he speaks.

"So umm... how was your first day?"

"Well since within the first minute I had already bumped into someone, I would say it started Okay." I said chuckling. He laughed a little then looked at me. I was staring right into his eyes.

"God I love your eyes." I blurred out. I inhaled sharply when I realized I said that out loud. I opened my mouth to say something but nothing came out. As I lowered my eyes in shame, I heard him chuckle.

"It's alright angel. Yours are beautiful too." I looked up at him, there was a bright smile on his face, I knew my face was completely flushed by now. He was about to say something when the bell rang. I saw Ethan walk towards our table.

"Come on love birds, it's gym time." he said tapping both Jaden and Tyler on the shoulder.

Tyler looked at me and then looked at Jaden and Tailah getting up.

"Tessa you coming? We have gym now." she said while picking up her bag.

"Yea I'm coming"

I rose from my seat and as I started collecting my stuff I took a look at Tyler. He was ready to go so we all made our way to the gym.

      After gym came last period and it was without Tailah. As I was walking into the classroom, I saw Mrs.Carters standing in front of the class. I always liked her. She was a very close family friend and I couldn't wait to have her as my teacher.

"Hey Mrs.Carters" I said with joy evident in my voice. She turned around and flashed me a big bright smile.

"Hello Tessa! I'm so glad to see you. How was vacation?"

"It was good thank you."

"That's great to hear. Please send your mother my regards."

"I will"

        I went to take a seat in the middle row. Slowly the class was getting filled up with students.Once the class was almost full, Mrs.Carters started introducing herself to the class. She was still talking when Tyler walked in. He excused himself and walked to the seat next to mine. He smiled at me and I timidly smiled back.

       After Mrs.Carters introduction speech she allowed us to chat. I looked at him and found him already staring at me. He was about to say something when a high pitch squeal erupted. I looked forward and saw Eva with an expression that looked like surprise and excitement. She ran to him and hugged him. Her boobs were in his face and was ranting about how happy she was that they had class together. I know I shouldn't feel anything but with that sight in front of me, my heart felt like it got stabbed a hundred times. I wanted to rip her hands off him and snatch out her extensions. I was mad and sad so I walked out.
