Tessa's P.O.V
(This chapter is unedited. Sorry for the mistakes.)
"What's that over there?" I asked, pointing at a cute little rustic house.
"Oh, this is where the pack healer lives." Tyler said as we approached the house.
"It also kind of serves as a hospital." he said as he opened the small gate for me.
Knocking on the door, we waited patiently. When the door opened, a girl was standing there. She looked to be in her early twenties or late teens. She had striking hazel eyes and flamboyant red hair that reached her midsection.
"Alpha, is everything alright?" she asked.
"Everything is fine Claire. I was just showing the pack to our future luna." he said and she looked at me as her eyes widened.
"It's an honor to meet you, luna." she said while bowing her head.
"It's nice to meet you too Claire and please call me Tessa."
"Please come in. I'll show you around." she said as she stepped aside to let us in.
After walking around the house for about thirty minutes, I found the visit quiet interesting. In the pack, Claire's father played the role of a caretaker. Just like his ancestors before him, Dr. Davis took over as pack healer after his father passed away. They are very important to the pack especially during wars and when shewolves go into heat.
I was currently walking through a little garden in the back yard, I used that time to get to know a little bit more about Claire.
"So Claire, how old are you?"
"I just turned eighteen yesterday." she said as we walked further into the garden.
"So that means you've had your first shift correct?"
"Yes and I love my wolf. Her name is Niria."
"Tell me more about her. What is she like?" I asked as we settled on a small wooden bench.
"Well would you like me to show you?" she said and I nodded.
She walked behind a tree and a few seconds later I heard the familiar sound of bones snapping. A few seconds later, a beautiful white wolf emerged from behind the tree. I stood up and smiled as she walked closer to me. Niria was absolutely stunning and her green eyes just popped out. She wasn't as big as Kai but that's because he's an alpha. I watched in surprise as she laid down in front of me. I don't speak wolf but I think that's good thing. Right?
After Claire had shifted back into her human form, we talked some more. Apparently she hadn't met her mate yet but isn't giving up hope since it's only been a day.
"What would you like to do when you finish high school?"
"Definitely take over as pack healer. I think that just what I was born t..."
She stopped in mid-sentence before standing up and sniffing the air.
"Mate" I heard her say in a low voice. Her eyes began to glow before she ran inside.
Not knowing what else to do, I followed her in. She abruptly stopped in the middle of the hallway, making me bump into her. Looking over her shoulder, I saw Tyler with his back facing us talking with Ethan who was looking in my direction.
"Mate" I heard him say making Tyler turn around to see what he was talking about.
Ethan began to walk towards Claire and I stepped away to go stand next to Tyler. I might not be a wolf, but from what Tyler told me, a wolf finding his mate is one of the most important events in a wolf's life.
I watched as Ethan caressed her cheek before slowly leaning in and capturing her lips with his. I couldn't contain the smile that formed on my lips as I watched them. Once I saw his hand began to wonder around, I took it as my cue to get both Tyler and I out of there.
Getting back to the pack house, I smirked when I saw Tailah straddling Jaden as they made out passionately on one of the black leather couches.
"Awww look at them two." I said loud enough for them to hear me.
But as I had expected, they just ignored my comment and kept going at it.
"If you guys plan on doing something more than just exchanging saliva all night it better not be on my damn couch or I promise you there'll be two dead wolves before the sun rises." he said and I gave him a confused look.
"Two?" I said looking at Jaden and Tailah who had just pulled away.
"Tailah...you're a werewolf?" I asked almost in awww.
"Yes" she answered.
"This is crazy, how did I not know this. I'm such a shity friend." I said while holding my head in my hands.
"Tessa it's not your fault. A werewolf is like a normal human for most of its childhood. I turned 18 only two months ago. I didn't want to bring you into a world that wasn't yours."
"But Tyler told me, why couldn't you?" I said sounding almost angry.
"Tyler is your mate Tessa. Rejecting him would've literally ripped a part of your soul out. I'm just your soul sister. If you took me as a freak and rejected out connection it would've been almost as bad as a mate's rejection. But you would barely feel it. You would only have a feeling of longing and some guilt and that would be it. But me, I would literally feel our bond getting torn apart." she said almost in tear.
I didn't even know why I was mad at her. She has been an amazing friend since we met. It's crazy that we weren't just best friends, but we were actual soul sisters.
"Please Tessa don't cut me out. I don't think I would survive without you." she begged.
"Tailah, I'm not gonna stop our friendship over this. I don't even know why I was mad at you. Maybe because I felt like you didn't believe that I would accept you for who you truly are. But you shouldn't have. If what you said about us being soul sisters is true. Then fate had us destined to stick up for each other. Who am I to change that."
I watch as tears streamed down her face as she ran to me before hugging me ever so tightly. Before I knew, I was sobbing against her shoulder.
"You have no idea how much a fucking love you eggshell." Tailah said as we both began to compose ourselves.
"Eggshell?" I heard Tyler repeat.
"It's a long story."
That he will most likely never know about. I said to myself.
