Chapter 26: Some Trouble

Tessa's P.O.V

     After a slightly awkward diner, Amon had left and I was now washing the dishes. Even though Margarette had offered to take care of them, I wanted to make myself useful. I was going up to my room when I heard my mother call me into hers. 

     Walking in, she was brushing her hair in front of the mirror. After putting it in a braid she turned around and walked towards me. 

"Hey, sorry for keeping you waiting."

"It's fine mom. Did you need anything?"

"I actually need to talk to you. Please sit down." she patted the bed and I was about to sit when I remembered that she most likely hadn't changed the sheets yet.

"Ummm... I'll stand." I said and she seemed confused at first before her eyes widened in realization and her face turned crimson.

"So, your school called. Apparently you skipped more than half of the day. Mind explaining?"

"Yeah, I wasn't feeling so good. I'd been feeling funny since the morning but went to school anyways because I thought it would pass. When it didn't I asked Tyler to bring me home." I lied and she just nodded.

I hated lying to her, but the things that are going on in my life right now can't be shared with her. 

"So how do you feel now?"

"Much better. I guess I was just tired or stressed."

"Mmmmh."

"Okay enough about me. YOU seem to be opening up to Amon more lately." I teased and watched as her face became flushed. 

"I'm not gonna deny that. I've officially opened my heart him."

"Your heart isn't the only thing you seem to have opened." I joked and she sent me a playful glare. 

"Get out of here!" she yelled and threw a pillow at me. 

 After brushing my teeth and texting Tyler for like an hour, I settled in my bed and let myself succumb to a deep sleep.

     Next morning, I did my morning routine before heading downstairs. I moaned softly as I took a bite of the sausage gravy lasagna. I better get going, it was already passed 7:30. I got to school shortly after and went to join Tailah and Tyler on one of the picnic tables. As I walked to them, people sent me weird looks and murmured into each other's ears. Now that's weird.

     When I reached their table, Tailah grabbed my arm and led me to the bathroom.

"What was so urgent that you couldn't just say through mind link? And why is everyone looking at me like that?"

"Because someone took a video of you slamming Eva's head against a damn mirror." she said while pulling out her phone and showing me the video. 

I don't feel bad for giving that bitch what she deserved but damn did I look bad ass in that clip.

"Okay, just a little cat fight. This happens all the time here."

"The problem is, Mr. Hennessy caught some Freshman watching the video and brought it to the principal."

"This is a complete disaster."

"That's not the worse part. The worse part is, Eva showed up to school with a band aid on her nose and a bandage on her forehead. She confirmed the story with Mr. Hennessy, the principal is expecting you in his office before class starts and of course her parents will be in there with her."
