Shattering

Alexis P.O.V.

It felt like my entire heart was shattering. I had given him everything. I had forgiven him and taken him back. And he cheated on me?

It felt like my entire world was falling apart. I had trusted him. I loved him with my entire heart. And I was so sure he loved me too.

My hand traveled to the necklace he had given me. With one quick yank, I tore it off and flung it onto the pavement. His promises meant shit. He didn't love me.

I hugged my knees closer to my body.

What was I supposed to do? I couldn't just run away again. I was so sick of running. Everything had seemed so perfect just yesterday, and now all that was shot to hell.

But I wouldn't run away. I couldn't. Not this time.

But I couldn't go back in there. Not yet at least.

I closed my eyes, enjoying the feel of the cool concrete. I must have drifted off, because the next thing I knew, I was being awoken by a loud vibrating. I looked down to see my phone vibrating on the concrete ground, making an obnoxious sound. I looked at the caller ID. "J". I answered without even thinking about it.

"You know, sleeping in alleys probably isn't the best idea," Josh stated as soon as I answered.

"What do you want Josh?" I growled, in no mood to talk to him.

"Just wanted to see how you were doing. And remind you that you always have a place back in the house with me."

All the terrible memories came flooding back, and I instinctively hugged my arms around myself tighter. "No thanks," I muttered bitterly.

"Suit yourself. But have fun with pretty boy. Don't you think it's a bit weird that none of your little boy toys have come looking for you? I mean, you've been gone for about three hours."

My eyes widened by hearing I'd been asleep that long. But then my mind started thinking. Josh was right. None of them had even come looking for me. Sure, nobody except Louis knew I was missing, but wasn't it some sort of sign that Louis hadn't come after me? He'd just left me, even though he knew Josh would most likely be looking for me.

"Sure you don't want to take me up on my offer?" Josh asked.

"Thanks, but no thanks. I have to go," I mumbled, standing up and dusting off my butt.

"Alrighty. Have a nice time, dollface!" he called before I hung up.

I checked my phone again. Not a single call or text. If Louis did love me, wouldn't he have tried to contact me?

No. He wouldn't have. Because he doesn't love me.

I sighed as I pushed on the door, only to find it locked. Great, I had to go around front. Not only, in sweats and a hoodie, but with make-up probably smeared down my face and my hair a mess. Hopefully there wouldn't be any paps or fans out there. I pulled the hood over my head, hoping it would at least semi help.

I slipped around the building and walked to the front. There were a few fans gathered, but it wasn't bad. At least something went right for me. I slipped past them, only to be stopped by security.

"Excuse me, miss, but you're going to have to stand with the fans." I lowered my hood and peered up at the man. It was Paul. "Oh, Lex. I'm sorry. I didn't recognize you. Go ahead." He seemed a little flustered, so I gave him a weak smile before scooting around him.

"Wait, Lex," he called quietly. I turned around to see him studying me. "Are you okay?" he asked sincerely.

I gave him a tiny nod and extremely weak, fake smile before dashing towards the elevator. It was already there, so I jumped inside, pressing floor 18. I was alone, so I leaned against the back wall, happy I had gotten inside easily enough.
