The light breeze and the wind in my hair as I sat in the back seat of Mackenzie's Mercedes-Benz s-class cabriolet. Out of the three of us, Rachel and Mackenzie are the really wealthy ones. I, on the other hand, is an average middle-class girl. I have no desire to buy luxury cars or live in big mansions, although, it does seem nice, I am content with my lifestyle, even if Rachel and Mackenzie's standards of living is way different than mine.
I couldn't help but smile as I raised my arms and danced and sang along with the song playing in the background. I could hear the distant laughter of Mackenzie as she drove her way into the night and the cheerful singing of Rachel in the passenger seat.
So, this is what living feels like.
It was 3 am in the morning on a Friday night, and surprisingly no police cars were around, so I guess you could say that we were just three reckless girls driving around a wealthy, prestigious neighbourhood under the night sky, having the time of our life.
I sat back down in the back seat, joining in on the conversation that Mackenzie and Rachel were currently having,
"Are you guys hungry?" Rachel asked, her eyes focused on the many stars twinkling above us,
"Yeah, but what stores are open around 3 am?" Mackenzie lightly chuckled,
"I know this 24-hour diner right outside of Vixton Dale, a few people might be there, and the food is great. It's called the Flamingoes." I informed Rachel and Mackenzie, they both seemed okay with the diner and Mackenzie began to drive towards the outside gates of Vixton Dale.
- Flamingoes -
Mackenzie parked right outside of Flamingoes, and as the three of us walked in, there we spotted The Ravens in their own little booth, all looking super attractive as they drank their milkshakes and talked about what boys talked about.
"Why are they here?" I stated, my tone mixed with annoyance. I just wanted to have a fun time with my friends and they had to be here? I mean, Jackson and Alex are my friends, but I'm not so sure about Carter or Xavier, and ever since that night at Xavier's party, me and him, been quite distant with each other. Although I would catch Xavier giving me quick glances during some classes, and ever since Carter and Rachel started dating, most lunches consist of sharing a table with The Ravens and Jackson stealing my fries.
It was quick when Rachel's attention was on Carter, and soon she was sitting right beside him in their booth. I sighed as I looked over at Mackenzie,
"C'mon Aliyah, The Ravens aren't that bad as you think they are. Plus, they are super attractive." Mackenzie states, clear excitement laced in her bubbly voice.
I walked over to their table, my bitch face plastered on, and I soon caught Xavier's eyes infixed on mine. A shiver went down my spine, and I swear, when Xavier stares at me, I can't help but feel highly uncomfortable but yet have butterflies roaming around my stomach.
A waitress with strawberry blonde hair walked over to the booth, her attention clearly, engaged to the boys,
"What do you want?" She asked, her tone rather seductive.
I get it, the Ravens has the presence of catching people's attention without even asking for it, and the waitress clearly understood that. She looked a few years younger, and as she scribbled down whatever the boys ordered, her focus was still engaged on The Ravens, specifically Xavier.
