It was not often that Annabeth got to enjoy the feel of hot soothing water against her skin. Her morning time routine was often rushed as she tossed clothes on and kissed Percy as he ran out the door. Showers had become her best friend since she started college and working full time.
But tonight she was off and Percy was working later than usual, she also has nothing to study since she was in between semesters. So, she ran herself a nice hot bath, putting bubbles and bath salts in for good measure.
She was sure the knots in her back and shoulders were going to appreciate her so much in a few minutes. Her hair was thrown up and her clothes discarded as she sat in the small bathtub in the apartment she shared with Percy.
The water rippled around her as she settled into the tub, the steam floating off of her skin. She smiled a little giddy as she leaned her head back against the cool tile of the wall. Baths weren't something she had always loved— it was actually Percy who had made her love the time she spent in the bath.
Right after they moved into this apartment he ran her a bath and made her relax before her first exam as a college freshman. It had actually become routine after a while— a long hot bath before every exam. Life, however had taken over and she couldn't remember the last time she had done this.
Annabeth ran her fingers over the top of the water as she closed her eyes. The water soothing her achy and tense muscles. She wasn't sure how much time had passed when she felt the water slowly begin to pulse around her. It was gentle and made a slow smile spread across her face.
Without even opening her eyes she muttered, "I thought you were working late?"
Percy chuckled. "I thought so too."
Annabeth lifted her head up and the first thing she saw was the way his hair flopped in front of his eyes, "You need a haircut."
"Yeah.. yeah... yeah... scoot up." He muttered pulling his hand out of the water. The water stopped pulsing around her as she watched him pull off his work shirt and undo the belt buckle on his jeans.
"Enjoying the show?" He asked pulling off his boxers.
She nodded, "Very much so." He shook his head with a grin as he settled in behind her.
It took a minute but after several elbows in the face they settled into small bathtub. Annabeth didn't know why they always tried to take a bath together, her five foot nine frame and his six foot one build weren't exactly made for fitting into small spaces.
But she loved being pressed together like this. She loved feeling every single part of him— the beat of his heart against her back. The press of his thighs against her own. Her head leaned against his chest as her arms rested on his knees.
As much as she enjoyed a bath by herself, a bath with Percy was even better. Being able to simply be here with him after everything they had been through offered her a glimpse at contentment. They'd never had the luxury of being content in their lives until now. She was reluctant to embrace such a notion but being here with him like this gave her hope that their monster hunting days were over.
That they could finally be a semi-normal couple.
She felt his lips graze her forehead and the hope roared in her chest, expanding— threatening to burst.
"Chiron called." Percy whispered.
And just like that the hope deflated, "Yeah?" She asked— trying to keep the defeat from her voice.
Percy's fingers traced circles on her bare stomach, "He wanted us to come back to camp... apparently they're having some problems with crowd control.. too many kids running around."
Annabeth nodded, wrangling twelve year olds was not exactly the way she wanted to spend her break.
"When do we leave?" She asked.
Percy chuckled. "I told him we couldn't come."
For a moment she thought that she heard wrong, his words repeating on a loop in her head.
"Really?" She asked turning around to face him.
"Yeah, I wanted to spend the holidays here... with you since we haven't spent any of the holidays here.... we're always with my mom, your dad or at camp." Annabeth smiled and pulled his face in to kiss her.
"I thought you would be mad." Percy whispered when she let him go.
Annabeth shook her head, "Gods no." Percy smiled as she turned back around in his arms.
They stayed in the tub for a little while longer, until she was nodding off on his shoulder. Once they were both towel'd off and under the covers of their duvet, they curled up next to each other. The hope started creeping back in her chest. Things may not always happen the way she wanted them to but everything had a funny way of working out.

Hello. How is everyone and everything?I am very sorry that I have not been updating for quite a while now. I'm thankful for all of your patience to those who still stayed with this story. Lots of things had happened and it made me very busy. School is hard for me right now. I really don't like it when school always gets in the way of things. I'm having a small writer's block so I hope this is okay.
About the smut writing thing. Yes. I will put a warning at the very beginning of the story if it includes smut.
I guess that is all for now. Thank you!
P.S.: I've been getting into the pairing of Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy. Yes, I am a Potterhead and am in love with everything about it (well... almost. a bit disappointed when Rowling paired 'Mione off with Wadley). But anyways, my new otp is Dramione and it's amazing! And I also like Draco a lot XD. That is all. So, any Dramione shippers out there or just me??
P.P.S.: My shipping of a new otp does NOT mean I will stop writing Percabeth one-shots. I will continue to write as long as something tragic will happen.
Thank you :)
