Annabeth squeezes her way between two girls leaning into the aisle chatting excitedly. She cast another glare at the guy who took the last seat up front and takes a seat slightly off to the left in the second row. She pulls out her notebook and starts scanning the notes from last period.
"Whatcha readin' there blondie?" Annabeth feels the guy's breath on her hair and suppresses a shudder.
"Fuck off." She flips him the bird for emphasis and turns the page.
"Wow, first day and you're already making friends. Someone should teach you some manners." Annabeth's left hand curls into a fist. She keeps her right hand flat against the top of the desk.
"Someone should teach you to keep to yourself," She says calmly.
"That gonna be you tatts? Say, where does this one go exactly?" Annabeth feels the ghost of his fingertips against her skin and starts to turn. She keeps her fist loose and her thumb out so she won't break a finger while breaking his nose.
"I'm surprised you're even in this class Twinkie, I didn't think you could read." A voice makes 'Twinkie's' hand pull back and Annabeth stops herself. Fist fights aren't great for permanent records.
"Very funny, Jackson. I was just admiring her art, besides shouldn't you be throwing more shitty passes?" A couple chuckles come from behind her.
"Says the moron who close lined our own running back last game. Maybe that had something to do with you and your goons lighting something up before the game." Annabeth turns to see her defender and nearly cusses.
"Shut the hell up." Annabeth hears a chair scrape across the floor behind her and figures Twinkie is standing now. "You say one word to coach and I swear I'll fu-"
"I suggest you not use that language in my class Mr. Harris or you'll end up with a detention. I think that might interfere with your game on Friday." The entire class quiets immediately at Mr. Blofis' entrance.
"Mr. Jackson take a seat please." His tone is different for Percy but Annabeth figures there's got to be perks when you're the varsity quarterback. (A/N: or maybe something else ;) )
"Yes sir." Percy drops his head and looks for the nearest open seat. Leaving him the desk to the left of Annabeth.
Percy dumps his book on the desk and backpack on the ground. Annabeth keeps watch on him out of the corner of her eye. He slumps back and doesn't even pull a pencil out of his backpack. Instead of looking at the board he stares out the window. Thirty seconds in and he's already zoning out.
"Ms. Chase, interesting to see you here." Mr. Blofis' says and Annabeth is caught off guard still staring at Percy. "I expected to see you in my AP Lit class later this afternoon."
"I couldn't take it, AP Calc, AP Bio, and AP Anatomy at the same time I'm sorry." Annabeth feels the gaze of the entire classroom warming her skin.
"Like she's in that many AP classes." She hears the whisper from behind her. Annabeth just smiles and pulls her hair to the other side. Giving the right side of the class a full view of her shoulder and sleeve tattoo.
Mr. Blofis clears his throat and starts to call roll. Annabeth learns that Twinkie's real name is Tyler and almost every girl sighs when Mr. Blofis calls their name. Percy looks like he'll vomit every time it happens.
Mr. Blofis spends the period talking about all the books they'll be reading and projects they'll be working on. He grins and waves his arms and uses cheesy voices and gets into every character from every book. He nearly shouts at times and at others drops his voice to a stage whisper and forces everyone to lean in. Annabeth smiles most of the time. She scratches off the books she's already read and underlines the ones she'll need to review then goes back to reading her notes. Until she feels someone glaring at her.
