Coffee Shop Part 1

(This is dedicated to Raythewriterforever because it's her birthday tomorrow! Happy birthday!)

(It's Charoix, of course, set in a Human AU)

(Chariot POV)

I sigh deeply, coming to a stop outside the new coffee shop.

It's just a coffee shop. What's all the fuss about with this place? I wonder as I push open the door, a soft bell chiming above me.

"Welcome!" A younger voice says from behind the counter.

I glance towards the sound to see one of my students, Akko, waving at me with a bright smile.

"Akko! I didn't know you worked here?" I say as I approach the counter.

She leans forward over the counter, wrapping me in a quick hug.

"Hehe! Yup! I just started last week! This place is cool, right?!" her voice is brimming with excitement.

"Akko! Diana needs you in the kitchen!" An older voice calls as a woman with lilac hair steps into view from a door that I guess lead to the kitchen.

Akko slips through the door as the beautiful woman approaches me.

Did I just call her.... beautiful?! I blush as she smiles at me, an eyebrow raised.

"So, what'll it be?" she asks, leaning on her elbows over the counter.

I stutter, glancing up at the menu overhead.

"U-Uh, one vanilla bean frappe with three pumps of caramel, please." I finally manage, avoiding her captivating eyes.

(Dont mind me inserting the only kind of coffee I like here...)

"Okay! Is that for here or to go misses...?" she trails off, looking at me expectantly.

"I-It's just miss. Uh, Chariot. And- um- it's for h-here, I guess." I manage to squeak out, feeling my palms start to sweat.

"Great! Have a seat and I'll be right o st with your drink." The woman smirks, gesturing towards some tables near the front window.

I notice some bookshelves and grab one as I take a seat, pretending to read it as I steal glances at the cute barista.

Chariot, you perv! Stop staring at the poor woman! I shove my face deep into the book as she nearly catches me looking at her.

I hear footsteps approaching accompanied by light laughter.

I see a hand grab the book from me as well as set down a cup of my coffee.

"That'll be $4.23. And uh..." she trails off, turning the book upside down in her hands before handing it back to me.

"Its easier to read it right side up." she winks before walking away.

I feel my face burn as I shakily reach for my cup.

I take notice of her fancy cursive writing, as long with a heart dotting the I.

I think I may faint. I grip the cup slightly tighter.

I turn it a bit in my hand to notice something else written on it as well.

"Hey. Enjoying the view? ;)
-Croix"

So her name's Croix... My heart flutters as I glance back towards her.

She was gazing at me while leaning over the counter and sent me a wink that made my knees feel like jelly.

I take a sip of my drink, trying to play it off but instead tilt the cup too far and get caramel up my nose.

(Yes, sadly, this happened to me before XD Stupid Starbucks employee...)

I let out a sound of surprise as I hear her chuckle at me, my cheeks burning brighter in embarrassment.

I reach forward and grab a tissue, cleaning myself up.

Da*n this woman... I groan, resisting the urge to look at her again.

(Croix's POV)

This girl is just too much... I chuckle as I watch the red haired beauty clean her pretty face.

I feel a soft blush creep onto my face as I place my chin in my hand, gazing at her as she attempt to sip her drink properly this time.

She glances at me, tensing before jerking her head towards the window.

I smile at her, sighing deeply.

She's so cute... I'm snapped out of my thoughts as I feel a hand on my shoulder.

"Talk to her!" Akko whisper-shouts to me, literal stars in her eyes.

"Akko, please. I don't even know this woman." I reason quietly, hoping the girl is question hadn't heard.

"I know her! She's my astrology teacher! Please, Croix! She's soooo nice!" she leans into my ear, "And totally single~!" she sings the last part, making me blush a deep red.

"A-Akko!" I lightly smack her arm as she cackles like the idiot she is.

I glance back over at the red head in question as she appeared to be reading the book from earlier, rather than using it to spy on me.

A few minutes can't hurt, right? I sigh, biting my lip.

"Cover for me?" I ask as Akko squeals wildly.

"YES! NOW GO!" she whispers loudly, shoving me around the counter as I stumble towards her.

"Um, hey. Is this seat taken?" I ask, pointing to the chair opposite her.

"N-No! Please, g-go ahead!" she sets the book down, smiling at me as I take a seat.

"I-I'm Croix." I stick a hand out for her to shake.

Oh my god, I'm such a loser. I internally facepalm.

"C-Chariot." her hand is soft and cold in mine, and it leaves way sooner than I wanted it to.

We sat there until closing, just talking about small things.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you a single thing we discussed, though.

I was too busy trying to study every inch of her gorgeous face without coming off as totally creepy.

I stood by the door and waved as she trudged away, fallen leaves crunching softly beneath her feet.

I sigh, clutching a hand to my heart.

I hope she comes back tomorrow...
