Chapter 7 : Off Guard Pictures

Evelyn's POV

4 weeks after moving to Washington 

I wake up to sound of my alarm going off at 6 in the morning . Its surprisingly sunny and clear today . I feel like I haven't seen the sun in forever since moving out here . My iPhone goes off telling me someone is trying to face time me . Who on god's heavenly earth is trying to facetime me at 6 in the morning . I look at the caller ID and I'm surprised to see that its Tony . Before answering , I quickly smooth my hair out , not wanting him to see my lions mane of hair . I really need to get it cut . I answer it and he is still in his Pajamas too. "Hey , nice pjs " he says through the phone commenting on my Pajamas that consisted of one of Daniels old shirts and work out shorts . 

"You don't look too bad yourself cowboy "I say seeing as his Pjs have tiny cowboys on them  . He chuckles lightly in his husky voice . "Alright anyway , Can you and Daniel be ready in about an hour , Cat and Anna want to go to the diner to get breakfast today . Its kind of a tradition we have . Every other Friday we go get breakfast there before school "he explains . "Ill ask him right now , but I'm pretty sure he will say yes , are you gonna pick us up ?"I ask getting my outfit for the day ready . "Nah I thought you guys would like to walk there "he says sarcastically . "Yeah , yeah I gotta go get ready . I suggest you do the same unless you want everyone to call you cowboy "I say .

"Alright be ready in an hour ill text you when I'm outside your house " he says hanging up . I start getting ready wearing a burgundy knitted off shoulder crop top , black high waisted jeans ripped at the knee  and burgundy colored Vans with white laces.  I lightly fill in my non-existent eyebrows, do a baby winged eye liner , and some lipstick. i grab my camera and bag and go to see if Daniel is ready . 

Before I have the chance to even step outside of room the door swings open , making me flinch. I turn to see that it is Daniel who swung it open." Are you ready ?" he asks in a hushed tone . He takes a good look at me as  put in some gold hooped earing that my mom gave me on my 15th birthday . "What are you looking at ?" I ask . "Why do you look like that ?"he asks in return . "Like what ? "I say arranging my wavy hair . "Like a girl and what's that stuff on your eyes" he asks trying to take a better look at me .

 "Its eyeliner you've seen me with it before don't act brand new ,oh and are you ready because Tony is picking us up in 15 " I say looking at the time on my phone ."Yeah im dressed and whats he picking us up so early for "he ask . Damn he asks a lot of questions , I thought . "Cat invited us to get breakfast with them at the diner "I answer just as my phone vibrates in my hand . Tony was calling me . I answered the phone "hey are you here already ?" I ask . " Yeah I just pulled up " he says . "Ok we are coming out right now "I say signaling Danny to start going out side . " Alright "Tony says hanging up . 

Before we leave Daniel goes to the kitchen and leaves a note for mom on the fridge that we got picked up . After picking up Cat and Anna , we stop at a diner that is close to school and head inside . "Ooh look our table is empty lets go "Anna says pointing to a booth in the corner . Just as we were about to walk there , a group of boys  take the spot . "Oh great "Cat mumbles . "What ?" Daniel asks. "Derek his crew just took our spot " Cat complains . "Come on lets just go sit over there "Anna says pointing to another empty booth.

Just as we pass them , I feel a hand grab my arm and pull me into the booth. I look to see that its Derek who pulled me in . "Hey beautiful , see you considered our date "he says trying to be seductive . I almost gag . "Sorry must have me confused with some one else " I say as I try to get out of the booth . Again he grabs my hand keeping me in the booth like a caged animal . "Oh come on , I know its you " he says in a fake sad voice . Ugh why is he so desperate , I thought. 

I look up to see Tony coming back towards the booth I'm currently trapped in . He silently mouths the words "play along ". He stops in front of the booth and says "Babe where'd you go I thought I lost you " . Did he just call me babe , I thought . I play along ignoring the stares of Derek and his friends . "Sorry I got caught up with trash " I say , yanking my arm out of Derek's grip . He looks at me surprised . "Really you and Estrella are going out now ?" Derek says as I slide out of the booth . Tony put an arm around my waist and pulls me in closer to him and Kisses me on the lips . "Whats wrong Harper jealous with what you cant have "  he says to Derek after pulling away from my lips

Im so glad Daniel didn't see any of that . But Cat did .

The bell rings signaling the start of third period . AP U.S History . A class that I hated . A class I had with Cat .  If sitting next to Tony in Stats wasn't torture enough , then this had to be . I had a feeling  she was going to bombard me with questions . "So you and Tony huh ?" she asked while getting her notebook out of her bag . "What about it " I said writing todays date on a piece of paper in my notebook . "I saw him kiss you at the diner " she says . " He was just trying to help me out of a ... tough situation with Derek " I reply not making eye contact . "Does he know that ?" she ask me . 

"What do you mean did he say something ?" I ask in return. "While you and Daniel had to go to the counseling office during Stats , he said that he was acted on instinct "she said . I was still confused and she must have known . "He also said that he thinks he is developing a crush on you " she whispers . 

I ended up only thinking about that for the rest of the period until the bell rings . As I walk towards my locker to get my book for my next class I see Tony there waiting for me . I'm about to turn around and go the long way but then I hear him call my name . "Evelyn "he says loud enough for me to hear . I swallow my pride and walk towards him with a smile on my face ."Hey Tony " I say . He suddenly hugs me , pulling me into him closer . "Derek is watching follow my lead " he whispers into my ear . When we pull away he kisses me again , this time for a little bit longer . 

This time I pull away . "You ready for Spanish ?" he asks me . "I guess I mean its pretty easy for me " I say as I open my locker . When I open it , theres a note taped to my Spanish book . I arch my brow at Tony . "What's this ?"I ask him . He gives me a small smile ."Open it " he tells me still smiling . I open it with a smile of my own . 

It says " Im sorry that I kissed you , I couldn't help my self , your too cute for you own good . (No smile and say 'Awe Tony ', to rub it in Derek's face " - Tony 

I cant help but smile at how goofy he is . Before turning to him I reach into my locker , turn on my camera whip it out and take an off guard picture of him . "What the heck " he says after the flash of my camera temporarily blinds him  . "I thought you looked cute " I say . He laughs rubbing his eyes . He then takes my camera and takes a picture of me too. " Send this to me "He whispers to me  . 

I close my locker after grabbing my Spanish book. He then walks with me to class and he sits next to me . The bell rings as I put my camera on my desk after taking out the memory card .While putting it in my wallet , some suddenly pushes my desk hard . So hard that my camera crashes to the tile floor , and just like my heart , it shatters . I look up to see that Derek devilishly smiling at me . I began to shake with multiple emotions that hit me all at once .Tony notices this and puts a hand on my shoulder and begins to pick up the broken pieces of my camera . 

"Sorry about that " Derek says with no sympathy at all . I stand up fast and make eye contact with him.  "Evelyn , Derek , please take your seats so I can start my class " Mr. Zavala , the teacher says . " You did that shit on purpose asshole " I say to Derek . "Please take your seats " Mr. Zavala say again . "Now why would I do that ? I just wasn't looking where I was going " Derek says innocently with a smile  . I know he's not . "You did that shit cause you were upset that Im with Tony and not an asshole like you " I say angrily . "No im not , Im really sorry " he says putting a hand on my shoulder with his smug smile that shows he anything but sorry . 

"If I ask one more time I will send you to On Campus Detention "Mr, Zavala says as his final warning . Derek starts to squeeze my shoulder  , making more angry . I suddenly punch him in his face as hard as I can . I groan in pain seeing as that wasn't my best plan , and clutch my fist . I feel Tony take me out of the class room . He has my bag with my things on his shoulder along with his stuff too . He ends up taking me to the student parking lot . 

Im still hissing at the pain in my hand .
