Chapter 8: X-Rays

Evelyn's POV

"Let me see it " Tony says gesturing to my hand . We never left the school . We're standing next to his mustang in the parking lot . "No it hurts to move it " I complain as I clutch my right hand in my left close to my chest  . What was Derek's face made out of , I thought , Vibranium ?  "Well its gonna hurt anyway "He tells me as he gently take my 'broken hand ' in his large one . I hiss at the sudden movement . " Sorry " he whispers as he inspects my hand . "Can you try to open your hand ?"he asks making eye contact with me .  I try to but it hurts so damn much that clench it back into a fist . "I cant " I say , clearly in pain .

He sighs in frustration , opens the passenger door ,and  puts our stuff in the back seat . "Alright get in " he says moving out of the way . I give him a confused look . "What are you doing?" I ask him. "I'm taking you to the hospital , what do you think ?"he says in a duh tone . I hate hospitals . They reminded me of when we lived on that military base with my dad . "Im not going to the hospital "I argue . "Why the hell not ?" he asks , clearly frustrated with my stubbornness . "My mom works there " I tell him , still refusing . He pulls out his phone texting someone . "Who are you texting ?" I ask . "My dad , he'll make sure that your mom doesnt see you . He's a doctor there  "he says not taking his eyes off his phone .

He puts his phone in his pocket then motions for me to get in the car , and I do . He closes the door then gets in to the drivers side . About a couple of minute later , we get to the hospitals emergency room . After he helps me get out of the car , he walks with me to the entrance ,where a man , who I assume is his dad walks toward us . " Tony , im not going ask why your not in school , im just glad you came to me to help your friend " Tony' dad says . He walks us straight to an empty room with a bed . 

"So tell me what happened Tony " he says after closing the door . " She punched Derek Harper in his face , hard  " Tony says trying not to laugh . " Shut up it wasn't funny , he destroyed my camera on purpose so I punched him " I explain . Tony's dad tries not to laugh too . I roll my eyes , no one takes me seriously .  " Here let me see your hand "  he says after putting gloves on . I put my hand in his hissing as he gently tries to open it . Tony takes my other hand in his and I glance at him and notice that he is watching me . 

His phones starts ringing and I see that Cat is calling him . "I'll be right out side if you need me " he says leaving and answering his phone . I really hope he doesnt tell her what happens . "So from I can kind of tell is that you have cracked your knuckle , but I want to do a quick X-ray before I put a brace on you . Are you eighteen ?" His dad ask . Shit . " My birthday is in a Month if that counts ?" I say , hoping that it does count. He nods . Thank god  . "Alright lets go get one " H says helping my off the bed . Just as he opened the door Tony paused in the doorframe , giving me an apologetic look . 

"What happened ?" I ask him . "Your brother is coming " he tells me

Daniels POV

"What do you mean your not coming , where are you guys ?" Cat says into her phone as we eat our lunch . "She did ? Holy shit that's badass " she says laughing . I nod at her . "What happened ?" I asked her after swallowing my food . "Evelyn punched Derek in the face during fourth period "She tells me . "What the fuck ?"I exclaim . Evelyn was not like that  . She only gets violent when someone messes with her camera . The last time she punched was back in Cali when I tossed her camera on her bed .

 "Give me the phone " I tell her. She hesitantly gives me the phone . "Tony , what happened " I say into the phone . "Um .... Derek got jealous that me and Ev were hanging out in the hallway during passing period , then in class she put her camera on her desk , and Derek shoved her desk and her camera hit the floor and broke , then she called him out in front of the class , he gripped her shoulder then she punched him in the face " he explains . Wow she was never violent in school , I thought . 

"Oh shit was it her baby camera or her vlog camera ?" I ask . She had a strange thing for naming her cameras based on their sizes . "Ugh it wasn't small , It was about the size of my hand , It was black but it didn't have a lens on it " he explains . "It was her vlog camera , she treats that thing like a baby , it was the last thing my dad gave to her before he got relocated " I explain . Anna quietly gasps . "My dad is checking her hand right now , I think it maybe broken " Tony says . 

"Keep me updated we are on our way " I say hanging up and giving Cat back her phone . "Wait we're going ? How ?" Anna says . "Uber "I say as I call one . "Its coming in five minutes you guys coming ?" I ask gathering my note books and shoving them in my bag . "I'm in , anything to get me out of chemistry " Cat says . " Fine I'm coming too , I don't want to hear Valentina's bitching about Evelyn hurting her 'Honey ' " Anna says . "Great lets go " I say walking towards the open gate . 

We get there in about ten minutes . Tony texted me that Evelyn was getting her hand X-Rayed. We met up with him outside of the X-Ray room . He was sitting in a chair bouncing his knee . "Tony " Cat calls . He shots up and walks towards us . "Hey man what going on ?" I ask him . "My dad is putting a brace on her hand , her knuckle is broken " he explains . "She'll get suspended " Anna says . I turn to look at her . "What do you mean ?" I ask her . "She hit him , if anything she would only miss a day or the principal will give her a freebie and only give her detention " she clarifies . 

Mom will loose her shit , I thought . OH shit mom works here . I quickly pull my hood over my and look around to make sure my mom isn't here . "What are you so freaked out about Danny " Cat says to me . "Shh my mom works here , if she finds out im here she will loose her shit , especially if she finds out that Ev broke her knuckle " I whisper . " Yeah Ev was freaked out about that too but I made sure my dad assigned her to another part of the hospital , she should be with the newborns right now " Tony said . "Thanks dude " I say to him . 

After about five minutes of waiting , Evelyn finally comes out of the room ,with a brace on her hand . She thanks who im assuming is Tony's dad then walks towards us . "I still cant believe you called my brother " She scolds Tony , not seeing that I'm sitting right next to him . "Well I'm glad he did " I say standing up . Her eyes widen as she notices me . "I don't want to hear it ok ? Can we go now ?" she says walking past me . I grab her by her elbow and turn her to face me ."Well you are so too bad . What were you thinking ? Punching him in the face ? Have I taught you nothing ?" I ask her . 

The four of them look at me confused . " I told you to always tuck your thumb in when you punch " I say smirking .  She smiles at me and hits my shoulder with her non broken hand . "I hate you " she laughs . "What ever I'm just glad your ok " I say pulling her into a hug . " You guys are so weird .Anyways you guys wanna go out to eat ? I'm starving " Tony complains . Evelyn pulls away at the mention of food . "Hell yeah " she says . 

We ended up getting McDonalds drive thru and ate at Tony's house . "So he just got jealous of your friendship and broke your camera like nothing ?" Anna ask . "Pretty much , he's been hitting on me since my first day here . It's really been pissing me off . He just gets me so angry sometime that I just want to ..... Ugh " Evelyn complains making her non broken hand into a fist . "Just don't punch him this time " Cat says laughing at that last part, which ends up making us all laugh . Evelyn throws a half of a handful of fries at her and me . 

If only mom doesnt find out about us ditching , and the fights that happened today
