Chapter 23 : There's a New Race Track

Daniel's POV

"Xavier Roman Joseph Padilla , don't you dare throw that bread roll at her " Luisa warned , using his whole name . That's when you know your in trouble . When an adult uses your whole name .

"I wasn't gonna actually throw it at her " he said , glaring at Evelyn , who smirked at him . "Oh sure , had she not said anything it would have been a food fight again " Ev teased collecting plates to wash .

He stood up , aiming the roll at her the back of her head . "Xavier " Luisa warned again from the kitchen . He huffed and took a bite out of it .

"Danny , can we watch the movie again , please " Emma begged , tugging on my arm . " You sure you want to watch Frozen again ? Why don't we watch Fast and Furious instead ?" he offers .

"Xavier she is way to young to watch that , your watching Frozen " Ev says , leading Emma to the living room with a bowl of popcorn . "I hate that movie , I've been watching it with her on a loop for the past week " he complains following them .

"It won't be that bad , remember when you had that obsession with Hannah Montana ?" I teased . "Dude you said that would stay between us " he says punching me in the arm .

We were halfway through the movie when Emma asked Evelyn "can you braid my hair like Veve does ?". I absolutely lost it . I was dying of laughter and Evelyn was trying not to .

"How does he do it ?" she asked in between chuckles . "Like Elsa and he puts little butterfly thingies in it too " Emma says , her bright blue eyes , sparkling . "Yeah I can do you hair , go get the butterfly thingies "she says , Emma racing to get them.

"So Veve , you do hair , maybe you should do mine some time " she teases ,running a hand through her curls , laughing . "Oh yeah sure , I have these cute popcorn clips I think you'd like " he throws a handful of popcorn at her .

Soon enough they started throwing the stuff at each other across the living room . "Xavier , I said no throwing food in the house , look at the example you set for Emma "Luisa scolded .

Emma came back with the clips and joined in on the popcorn throwing .

"No one asked her to join she just did " he said , throwing another handful at Ev . "Emma , honey come on its bed time " she said .

Emma threw more at Xavier , "But this is fun " . "You can do it another time , come on off to bed " Luisa picked her up and took her to her room .

After cleaning up the mess we made , I noticed that it was almost nine thirty and I had few missed calls from my mom , "Well I guess we better get going . I've got about five missed calls from mom ."

"Yikes have fun with that " Veir joked . He walked with us back to the house making up a weird senario about a future epocalypse that included man eating deer .

"Where do you come up with shit like this ?" Evelyn said , fishing in her bag for the house keys . "I don't know , I just do . I have a very vivid imagination " he waves his finger near his head , making the 'Crazy ' motion .

I pat his head and chuckle , "Stay weird Veir " . He swats my hand away , "Dude not the hair ." "Yeah Danny , you should know by now not to mess with his hair " Ev reminds me . She suddenly throws the popcorn from her pocket directly into his face .

"You little -"

"Finally you guys are back after who knows how long " my mother says from the front door . Perfect timing .

" So what are we doing today ?" Veir asked jumping onto Evelyn's bed . It was the Saturday before having to go back to school from Thanksgiving break , and Xavier had come over .

Our other friends were still away with their own families , and they weren't coming back until tomorrow .

" You boys could always help out in the shop , I pay good " Emmett said as he stood in the door frame . Xavier's eyes brightened at the sound of cars .

Whereas mine not so much . "As much as I'd like to , I don't know a thing about fixing cars and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want a malpractice suit on your hands" I said .

"There's always paper work that needs to be done " my mom said . Evelyn stifled a laugh , "Your gonna be a secretary ." I glared at her . "You can clean up around the place Evleyn "

"Haha , your gonna be a janitor " Veir laughed . We spent the moring at the shop , helping out where we could . To my dismay , I ended up doing all the cleaning , but I was able to do some detail work and test drive some cars .

Around the afternoon , Emmett sent Xavier and I to get some lunch for everyone . We ended up going to the nearest McDonalds .

"Dude stop eating her fries , she's gonna kill you " I warned him . He grabbed some more " What she doesn't know wont kill her " , he smiled . "Yeah sure " I chuckled .

"Hey , so I heard from one of the kids from school that lives near us that there's a new race track near here , and its open for anyone " he chirped happily . "And your point is ?" I asked . I knew what he was gonna say already.

"Can we go please , please , please" he begged. I rolled my eyes , "Fine , the three of us can go , what time does it start ?" "At like nine I think , near the old stadium " he informed . "Did that kid tell you that ? Or were you being an eavesdropper ?" I asked .

Xavier liked to poke his nose where ever he could and find out any gossip . Which is why I refraned from telling him my secrets anymore .

"I may have been an eavesdropper , I wasn't trying to listen , I just happend to be be playing in the back yard with Emma when I heard them talking " he explained rapidly .

Oh yeah , he was quick to fall under pressure . Typical Xavier . "So what am I telling my mom ? " I asked . I knew she wasn't going to just let Evelyn and I go to an illegal race track late at night .

"You could tell her that we are going to Cat's place for a movie night " he suggested as we pulled into the lot . "Cat's not even back yet " I reminded him .

"Yeah but your mom doesn't know that " he said , tapping a finger to his temple .Sneaky bastard .

It worked . She even let us go home early from the shop after paying us . Maybe I should consider working there .

"Danny , lets go Vier's here !" Evelyn yelled from downstairs . I put my jacket on running down the stairs . My foot barely crossed the threshold when my mom stopped me .

"Daniel "

Dammit . "Yes mom ?" I asked turning to face her . She held my house keys in her hand ," You forgot something ".

She tossed them my way , I caught them with my left hand ," Thanks mom . We'll probably be home late . But I'll text you if anything ".

" Ok be safe . If you decide to stay the night it's fine with me as long as it's fine with with Cat's dad " she said . I kissed her cheek and hopped into Xavier's car , watching the lights disappear in the  distance .
