the red prince

the red male was waaaaay taller than you and link and he wouldn't stop grinning! his teeth were sharp and pointy, his eyes yellow like electric beetles. his whole body was red except for his face down to his stomach. his attire was definitely some sort of royalty, it consisted of yellow rope wrapping around his large frame that connected with metal like armor pads on his shoulders. he had a fancy sliver belt with a blue gem in the middle and the same accessory on his neck, wrists, and ankles. he had little bits of yellow and blue fins sticking to his arms and shoulders, he was pretty buff too you noticed. 

he spoke in a polite and charming voice.

"i was hoping perhaps you'd have a moment to talk if you both don't mind."

link looked towards you and you shrugged.

"oh! pardon me! where are my manners? 

i'm sidon, the zora prince!"

he grinned at you both, while he did a pose that made you chuckle. he directed his shark-like head towards you. 

"oh? and who is this fair maiden?"

you blushed at the prince's comment and smiled widely. link watched your reaction from the corner of his eye and growled under his breath. the zora prince walked towards you and link slowly and shook the young hero's hand, then taking his hand in yours and kissed your knuckles softly. you giggled and introduced yourself.

"hello, your majesty! i'm y/n and this is my traveling partner, link."

"i'm sorry, but did you say 'link'?"

"um..yes? why?"

"hmmm, that name...it seems familiar. anyway! it's a strong name!"

the zora faced link and did that same pose again. you looked at link confusingly, but he only looked at sidon with a bored expression on his face. you were about to ask link what was wrong when the prince interrupted you. again.

"to be honest, i've been watching you, link. i've seen the way you work! i can tell how you carry yourself that you are no ordinary hylian."

link looked at sidon with wide eyes.

this guy had been watching link?!

you giggled when you saw link's flushed face and he faced you, staring at you with wide yellow eyes. sidon stared at you with so much intensity, you thought he was frozen.

"something on my face, your highness?"

"no! well, except for beauty...but no i just have a strange feeling that i've seen you before. and please, call me sidon!"

your blush grew redder at his compliment and you looked towards link. 

——(link's p.o.v)——

link felt his blood boil in his veins down to his fists and he tightened his palms. he glared at the zora and looked to the side. who does this guy think he is?! flirting with his friend right in front of him! link didn't like this prince at all. 

he was too nice, too nice to y/n. link felt like it was improper that a royal would suddenly just flirt with a normal hylian girl. besides! they're two different species entirely! what was this prince trying to do exactly?! suddenly the voice of the zora grabbed link's attention.

"link! you must be a strong warrior amongst the hylians, correct?!"

"i...suppose i am."

"AHA! just as i suspected! i am a zora prince, after all. i have an eye for talent that is unparalleled!"

link looked at sidon and rolled his eyes when the prince once again talked to you. 

"miss, y/n...are you...perhaps a lost goddess princess? you must be! a pretty face like yours must belong to someone who came from the heavens above!"

y/n was about to answer when link cut in. 

"alright, sidon. do you need us for something?"

sidon blinked and stepped away from the girl and grinned. y/n looked at link and raised a h/c eyebrow, questioning link's attitude towards the prince.

"why, yes! right now, zora's domain is in grave danger because of the massive rainfall coming from divine beast, vah ruta! please, promise you both will help us? we need your strength warrior!"

link was going to reply when y/n's sweet voice joined the conversation. 

"of course we will, sidon! we'll help anyone in need! that's what we do."

sidon beamed and stepped back, until his feet reached the water connecting to a small lake. 

"there's no time to waste then! hurry! get to zora's domain! i'll wait for you there, unless..."

link raised his eyebrow, stepping closer to his dear friend. almost like he was protecting her. 

"unless miss y/n would like to come with me? it's raining pretty hard and you're cold, my dear, y/n! i can get you to a zora medic if you're not feeling well!"

link glanced at his friend and noticed her holding her arms, shivering. 

god, why didn't link notice sooner? he mentally slapped himself while saying how ignorant and selfish he was.

y/n smiled and waved sidon off.

"that's quite alright, sidon. i think i'll go with my partner, link..."

link was shocked at your response and he smiled to himself subconciously. 

"alright then...i'll see you both at zora's domain!"

and just like that, the young prince swam off, towards a small waterfall. he glided through the rushing water with grace and disappeared. 

link grabbed his hylian hood from epona's pouch and gave it to y/n. 

"here."

——(your p.o.v)——

you blinked, looking at the dark grey cape in link's hands. you slowly took it and thanked him. you wrapped it around your neck, pushing the hood over your head.

"wait, link, what about you? you'll get sick!"

link smiled softly at you, while stepping closer to tie up the string that was on your neck for you. he looked straight into your eyes the whole time, never breaking eye contact. he whispered to you in a gentle voice. 

"y/n..your health means more than anything to me. i'd rather get myself sick than see you suffering with a bad cold."

link turned and started to walk off with his horse while you stood there, stunned.

out of all the compliments sidon gave you, link's was the one that made you blush more.
