the lynel's wrath

sidon's large left arm was slung over your shoulders, most of his weight pushing onto one leg as he hurriedly walked back to the domain with you. the red zora groaned every now and then, making you only walk faster.

"we're nearly there, sidon. just hold on for a little longer."

he nodded and squeezed his eyes, trying to bear with the constant pain that was occurring in his side. there was a large cut from the vicious lynel's axe. 

you could see the blue bridge ahead, with two zora guards chatting to each other. 

"quickly now, sidon. almost there!"

you both walked down a small slope and you called out to the two guards.

"help! prince sidon is injured!"

the blue zora's head spun around and their eyes widened in shock, the other followed and immediately started jogging over to you and their beloved prince. they gladly took sidon out of your arms and held onto him. 

"what happened?!"

the blue zora stared at you while the other was shouting for the medic. you told them that the lynel from ploymus mountain had somehow made its way over to the veiled falls and attacked you. 

"where is the beast now?"

you were about to answer when you (and half the domain) heard a mighty, horrendous roar. you whipped your body around and stared hard at the veiled falls.

"i'm going back. take sidon and get him cleaned up."

when those words left your lips, sidon perked up with the last strength he had and looked at you worriedly.

"y/n--no! you'll get killed! please--"

"i can't lose link! yes, we've only known each other for a week or two now, but i can feel inside me that he means so much more to me than you know. i have to help him."

sidon sighed, his yellow eyes softening slightly but still showing pain. he nodded and ordered the guards to take him to the medic.

——(link's p.o.v)——

link panted, his blue tunic stained with some of his blood and was covered in dirt and mud. he looked into the lynel's green eyes, trying to predict its next move. he rose his sword, about to attack when a voice suddenly spoke to him. 

"well, well, well."

link froze. that voice...there was only one person that voice could belong to.

that same person attacked link at rito stable!

"you should've believed me when i said i'd come back."

the hero kept his eyes on the red-maned lynel, trying not to get distracted from his opponent. he mentally cursed at the yiga that was trying to intimidate him and he narrowed his eyes.

"do you like my lynel? i sent it down to you, where hopefully, it would kill you and that girl."

link shook his head, trying to ignore everything and keep his attention on the beast.

"turns out, the zora prince was here as well. what a shame the lynel didn't kill him."

link ran, focusing on the lynel. he struck it's leg, making it fall onto one knee. an idea popped into the hero's head and he quickly climbed on top of it. it started jumping around, attempting to make link fall off the cliffside, but link was determined and he kept hitting and slashing it's back with his sword. 

the lynel finally kicked the hylian off and link fell onto the ground, hard. he groaned, his back aching with pain. link looked over his shoulder slightly and his breath was caught in his dry throat. 

he could see rushing water, racing in one direction and would surely kill him if he fell into it. the lynel stood over him, once again, raising it's large axe. link's blue eyes widened.

"goodbye, hero!"

the axe quickly swung straight down, right onto link's head when it suddenly froze and the axe barely missed link's forehead.

link blinked and stared at the large weapon...it was blue? link then recognised the colour, realising that someone had hit the lynel with an ice arrow!

"what?! what is this?!"

link's eyes flared with determination and he raised his legs, pushing all the strength he could muster into his feet. he pushed up, and grabbed onto the lynel's axe, flipping the entire beast over his head and pulling himself with it!

the ice enchantment broke, releasing the lynel back to it's angry state. it roared as it fell down into the raging water along with link's sword and slowly sunk into it. link's weak arms held onto the edge of the cliff, the water from the rain wasn't helping his situation at all and he looked down below. he wasn't sure if he could make it, his hope was starting to disappear as he could feel himself getting weaker and weaker by the second. he then tried to lift himself up but his right hand slipped and he gasped, hanging onto the slippery edge with only one hand. 

his pointy ears heard footsteps, running towards him. then suddenly, a hand pulled him up, while the other reached for his tunic as he was being hoisted up. link looked into his saviour's eyes and smiled.

"y/n."

the female smiled back at him briefly, but focused on getting link back onto the ground. she pulled him, slightly grunting  while link used his right hand to give him support. link pushed himself and landed onto the ground, sweating. y/n let go of him and fell back onto her back, panting. 

link slowly sat up and stared at his friend.

"you--you saved me."

——(your p.o.v)——

"now we're even."

you smiled brightly at him and chuckled. you didn't even remember that you were mad at him a few hours ago and you tackled link into a hug. he was taken aback and he froze up, his heart beating a little faster. you giggled and squeezed him. he then gave into your embrace, and tightly wrapped his tired arms around you. he placed his mouth near your ears and spoke to you an exhausted voice.

"thank you, y/n."

you pulled away, hands still on his broad shoulders and smiled. you stood up, bringing him with you. you took off his hylian hood, and wrapped it around link. link's eyes filled up with adoration and you blushed. 

"was that you? the ice arrow?"

you nodded meekly, motioning to behind you where a knight's bow was laying. link pulled the hood onto his wet hair.

"since when did you know how to use a bow?"

"hey! i have you know i was taught by the most skilled archers in hyrule!"

"what? but i don't remember teaching you that..."

you gave the hero a hearty laugh and lightly punched him in the arm. he chuckled and looked towards the domain.

he sighed out loud.

"link? what's wrong?"

you picked up the bow and held it tightly. you looked to where link was staring at and you suddenly felt bad for him. he glanced back at you.

"i have to take back vah ruta... tomorrow."
