divine beast vah ruta

please read this before u read the chapter! thanks! (also sorry if this chapter is a lil bit rushed!)

hey readers! soooo i've been feeling really inspired lately and i'm thinking of writing another breath of the wild story (i'm sorry if u wanted a different timeline/game but uHHh i literally love botw so FUCKING much iTS MY FAVOURITE soRRy) 

and i was thinking 'hmmmmmm should i do a modern story or after the calamity?' and tbh i dont mind which one but i kinda want u guys to tell me which one u would prefer!

again, i'm sorry that it's breath of the wild again but i really feel like there aren't many botw fics out there ya know so i just wanna help out hehe -- please comment which storyline u would prefer!! also when i say 'botw' i also mean that maybe the story just has those specific characters, not necessarily the plot of the game.

modern or after calamity?

modern: i dont mind when & what time -- for example like during highschool orrr in the 50s (which could be cute) orrrrr college roommates or something idk give me ideas! 

after calamity: link is captain of the guard (yay) and gets a new trainee (u!) and falls in love but lowkey complicates his job and stuff cossssss someone else also has feelings for him (we all know who) and yeah

you watched link jump onto sidon's back, his hands gripping onto the prince's shoulders and his mind focused on the task he was given. 

link looked back at you and gave you a sweet smile.

your mind replayed the memory of your kiss and you smiled back as you raised your arm and waved a little. you mouthed 'good luck' and watched him swim away.

your eyes shot up at the ancient beast as it cried, it's roar filling the air and shaking the grounds of zora's domain. you've never been this up close to a divine beast before and you stumbled back from the outburst. you held onto some of the delicate railings of the reservoir next to you, trying to regain your balance. you could see sidon gliding across the water with link on his back, holding up his sheikah slate and destroying the large ice blocks that were hurdled at him. 

even though link was a strong and brave hylian, you still felt extremely anxious for him as you watched the battle ahead. 

what if link fell off? what if he got crushed by the ice? what if he drowned?

you felt your head get dizzy as you thought about all of the possible outcomes. you held your forehead and watched the two dodge the ice and swim around the small waterfalls falling from vah ruta's shoulders.

you saw link swim up in one of them, then jumping out and gliding on his paraglider. link pulled out a shock arrow and aimed at one of the glowing orbs. in an instance, he let go and the arrow hit the orb, disabling the energy. vah ruta shrieked again and you covered your ears from the agonising noise. 

you prayed and prayed for link's safety and watched his every move with anxious eyes. link swam up one of the waterfalls again, jumping out and gliding on his paraglider again. he went near one of the working orbs when one of his hands slipped, making him loose his grip on his paraglider entirely and fall into the water. his contact with the water made a loud 'smack' like noise and you felt your heart drop.

you gasped, and yelled to him. you hoped he was alright and you cursed at vah ruta for making it rain so goddamn much. 

your eyes searched the water, e/c irises scanning everywhere. a head of blonde popped out of the water and your body relaxed. you sighed out loud and held your hands together in anticipation of vah ruta's next move. you saw link get back onto sidon's back and attempt at the same waterfall again. this time, link was successful.

link did this two more times and fell into the water next to sidon. vah ruta shrieked and dropped its mechanical trunk into the lake below. 

you glanced up and noticed that the rain was slowing down, making the sky clear again. you thanked the goddesses and wiped your wet h/c hair away from your face. 

suddenly, the ancient elephant started to rise upwards. you glanced back at sidon and link and saw them approach the beast with haste. 

link jumped onto the platform of the divine beast and looked towards your direction. you still managed to blush a little even though he was quite far from you and you waved. link nodded his head at you and walked inside vah ruta. 

sidon swam towards you and quickly walked over to you.

"sidon! is link alright?! i saw him fall into the lake before."

"he's fine, y/n. he's going to finish the job and take back vah ruta!"

you chuckled at sidon's enthusiasm and shivered from the wind hitting your wet clothing. 

"come on, let's go back to zora's domain."

— later —

along the way back to zora's domain, you slowed down to a stop and took in the domain's appearance again. this time, it was much more livelier and beautiful than it was in the rain. the crystal pillars and stairs glimmered and shined in the bright sunlight and the large water lake below was moving so gracefully, fish would jump out every now and then showing off their shiny and colourful scales.

"beautiful isn't it?"

you nodded and agreed with sidon. the two of you kept walking until you made it to the statue of the zora champion, mipha. you still felt your heart sink a little, even though you just shared a sweet kiss with link, you couldn't help but think that somehow, maybe, your kiss meant nothing to him. 

"something wrong, y/n?"

"what? oh, no, nothing's wrong."

-

"...alright..."

of course sidon noticed, and he knew exactly what you were thinking. however, he couldn't do anything about it since it was about link and nearly no one could read the young hero and what he was thinking. 

"hey, sidon, i'll be right back. i just need to do something."

the prince nodded at you and looked at you suspiciously. his yellow eyes watching you as you jogged over to the stairs on your right, making your way up to the king. sidon shrugged to himself and decided to follow you.

he slowed down to a walking pace when he reached the top, and there, he saw you kneeling down in front of the angel statue with your hands held together and your eyes closed. sidon looked at you admiringly and envied link that he held your kind and precious heart in his hands and knew that he would be the only one that would forever own your heart.

link was one lucky guy.

as sidon neared you, you stopped praying and looked up at him with a large smile on your face. you then stood up and walked over to the lookout that was above the statue of mipha and gazed at the reservoir lake towards vah ruta.

"please be safe, link."
