Chapter 1
It seemed like forever since Saya had been waiting at the train station for two of her brothers to pick her up. She should have assumed Luffy and Ace would be late, they probably stopped for food about ten times along the way. Of course, none of her five brothers were blood-related; Thatch, Marco, Ace, Sabo, and Luffy had all been adopted by Edward Newgate. Her father, Shanks, was also like a son to Newgate so Saya and her parents lived in the overly cramped house with them. But Newgate died when Saya and Luffy were 6 years old, and Shanks and her mom Hana had taken over being the parental figures for everyone. When Hana died during Saya and Luffy's sophomore year of high school, it had been a huge blow to everyone. But Saya was lucky to not only still have her dad, but five protective and loving brothers to go through it with.
Saya and Luffy were the youngest of the crew, just being 22 years old. Ace and Sabo were both 25 years old, Sabo was the only one not living at home now and was off getting his graduate degree in politics. Ace and Luffy weren't exactly cut out for college so they both worked in town at Iceburg's shipping company, considering they all grew up in a port town called Grandline. Marco was thirty and worked with Shanks, who was edging on 50 now, at his bar the Redline. Thatch, being the oldest at 37, was working as an English teacher at the high school they had all attended back in the day. Saya had just graduated from college, majoring in history, and had come back just at the beginning of December. She was planning to live back at home with her brothers and dad and work at the local museum part-time.
And that is how Saya found herself at the train station, with two large suitcases and a cat carrier, waiting for Ace and Luffy. After what had seemed like an hour, finally, a familiar old green pick-up truck pulled into the empty parking lot. Before Saya could even stand, she was being tackled to the ground by her brother Luffy: a boy that was the same height as her but had messy black hair and energetic dark brown eyes, adorning a scar below his left one, and a straw hat placed snuggly on his head even though it was the middle of winter and starkly contrasted his red parka and blue jeans.
"SAAYYYYAAAAA," Luffy yelled as he hugged his sister tightly. The red-haired girl blew her bangs out her face so her bright green eyes could get a better look at him. She smiled, trying to match the grin that was spreading across his face.
Saya chuckled, hugging him back, "hiya Luffy! It's so good to see you! Being apart from you suuuucccckkksss," she commented, extending the word "sucks" for emphasis.
A taller male approached from behind Luffy, a grin spread across his freckled face as well. Ace had chin-length black hair that was almost as messy as Luffy's, dark brown eyes, and a mischievous aura. He was wearing a black trucker jacket, dark blue jeans, black boots, and a red scarf that Saya had knitted him for Christmas years ago.
Saya smiled up at her older brother, standing up with a still attached Luffy, "Ace!" she squealed as she tried to reach out to him but was prevented by Luffy's tight grip.
"NOOO! I DON'T WANT TO LET GO YET!" he shouted, giving Saya the biggest pouting face.
Ace let out a loud laugh, "Oi, Luffy! I missed her too! Let me get a hug from our little princess~!" he mussed, smirking as he used the nickname the boys had for her knowing full well that she hated it.
"Hmph! Never mind, Luffy, I don't want to hug that brute anyways," she glared at Ace, holding onto Luffy even tighter.
"Shishishi~ Ace is a brute~" Luffy laughs, teasing him with her.
"Oh shut up," Ace mumbles as he starts to pout.
Saya lets out another chuckle, prying Luffy from her sides before she pulls the older male in for a tight hug, "I missed you Acey~!"
