Chapter 5
For the first time in a while, Saya found herself having nothing to do. It was a few days before Christmas and the museum was closed. Not having to work at the bar later, being a Thursday night which meant Benn was working instead of her, Saya found herself alone with Sabo in the house. When she peeked into his room to see if he wanted to do something, she found him smothered in a hundred blankets and asleep.
Not wanting to wake Sabo up, who probably needed the sleep, Saya decided to take Chopper for a walk. This time she paid attention to where she was going as they trudged their way to the park nearby. It didn't take them long to get there and Saya let Chopper off his leash so he could run around for a bit while she sat on a swing nearby and watched.
While Saya watched Chopper avidly attack a root to a tree, thinking it was a stick, her phone started to buzz. She pulled it out of the snug place it had in the pocket of her parka and looked at the picture of Zoro asleep with a mustache drawn on his face, a photo she had taken in high school and had used for his caller ID ever since.
Before answering the call she let out a chuckle at the memory, "whats up moss-head? Miss me~?"
"Where are you?" he asked bluntly with an irritated tone.
"At the park with Chopper...whats with that tone dude? Did I do something to make you mad...?" she asked, her brows furrowing together in confusion.
"I'll be there in a minute to pick you up, be ready," he spat before hanging up the phone.
"What the fuck?!" Saya exclaimed in irritation, trying to call the stupid male back but it went straight to voicemail each time. Eventually giving up, Saya shoved her phone back into her pocket and called Chopper over, hooking his leash to his collar just in time to see Zoro's car pull up on the road next to them.
He stopped the car and rolled down the window, his face had a worried expression and he was covered in sweat, "Get in, hurry!" He called loudly. On seeing his face and hearing the worry in his voice, Saya knew something was definitely wrong. She hurried over to the car with Chopper, putting him in the back seat, then getting in the passenger seat herself. As soon as she was in, the car was moving fast. He hadn't even waited for her to get her seat belt off before they were already on to their destination.
"Okay, Zorro. You better have a damn good explanation for pulling this crap," she hissed, glaring at the green-haired male next to her.
"It's Ace..." he murmured, quickly glancing at her before looking back at the road, taking a left when his GPS told him too.
Saya's heart dropped, and worry started to fill its place. "What do you mean 'its Ace'?! What the fuck does that mean?"
"H-he got into a fight with some new guys at work...no one was over in their station at the time so when we finally noticed something was up he was beaten pretty bad," Zoro related calmly, trying to not add in any gory details that might scare her, "he's on his way to the hospital right now."
Saya's eyes widened, fear adding to the worry that was already weighing heavy on her heart. "Then why aren't we headed to the fucking hospital?!" she screamed, making Zoro flinch slightly.
"Luffy...well, we can't calm him down. He's trying to kill those guys and he's not listening to us so-"
"So you thought I could calm him down," Saya finished for him, biting her lip, "well drive faster! We need to get to him so we can go check on Ace!"
Zoro obeyed her demand and speed up, only taking his eyes from the road to look at his navigation every once and awhile. Soon they were at Galley-La and Saya bolted from the car before Zoro could come to a complete stop, running inside to find a very angry Luffy being barely held back by Franky as he tried to get at the four men in front of him who were being held back by Paulie and some other workers.
